An "audiophile" is a person that is enthusiastic about high fidelity sound, so you are an audiophile.
What made the M50's so popular was their ability to accurately represent bass in mixing-this has always been the weakness of headphones in professional mixing and why the preferred method of mixing is always speakers/monitors/room treatment. The M50's have never been intended for pleasurable listening and there are a ton of cheaper headphones that are better for that purpose.
That said, I have a question; have you gotten a chance to listen to the HD-681's without the E7? I'm wondering how they'll sound plugged directly into a phone and if the level is high enough or I need to use one of my headphone amps.
Strongly tempted to try these out because of the price and great review.
