Great review. A question about all the models. Will the filters need to be replaced after a period of time? If so, have the Trinity guys mentioned what replacement costs would be?

Thanks all - sorry about the photos - they'll be up in a few more hours.
@Kuroyume - yes, they are worth it. Mastering is more important than container. It will depend on the quality of your mp3s, but I use aac256 files all the time on both my phone and smaller DAPs. I've never noticed a drop in quality from lossless.
@Mr Trev - the changeable filters are only available on Techne and Delta.  They won't need to be replaced.  If you lose one, I'm sure Trinity will be very good in replacing them at little to no cost (RockJaw did that with my AlfaGenus).

@Brooko thanks for the amazing review - i found their site (not easy!) only to find all phones were out of stock ):
Are the Kickstarter options (that include a set of these) also O/S do you think?

Great job on the review, Brooko! May I ask how the isolation of the Delta compares with the A83?

Really good question - but I have no way to measure it properly, and I really don't trust my ears enough to guess.  However - here is a very subjective trial. I played some music at moderately loud levels from my passive desktop monitors, then tried both the A83 and Delta with no music playing through them (essentially using them as stoppers).  The A83 did muffle the music a little more - I'm guessing this is because the vent is facing into your ear, rather than externally. So - the A83 (in a very subjective test) was the better isolator.

Awesome. I really love the Havi sound but yea feel that it can sound a little thin in comparison and ocassionally just a little harsh. Using a mids eq with my X3 so the lusher mids and subbass on the Delta sounds like it's right up my alley.

When will you finish the Techne review @Brooko?

I'm hoping to have it fully edited and ready for posting either today or tomorrow at latest.

Would the overall SQ still be at the level of the DN-2000J and A83s with the silver filter?
Brooko

That is a really good question.  Technically I wouldn't rate the Delta quite as high as the DN2000J - I think the 2000J drivers are a step higher. The A83 is interesting because while I still rate it highly, tonally I probably lean toward the Delta a little more. So my preference would be 2000J > Delta > A83.  So hard to make a call on the Delta vs A83 when you're talking technical level.  Possibly the A83 is still that small level higher.  As far as the silver filters on the Delta go, they're not my number one choice - and this is where individual preference (and the ability to tune the sound) makes the Delta a very compelling choice.  Even more so if Bob adds the two additional filters.

Well done review again! Maybe you told about it , but please, what's about sibilance on higher sound levels? Own A83 and love them , not fatigue to my ears (but second pair on RMA...). Thanks.

I'm not a loud listener, and it will depend on which filter you use.  But the "smooth" or middle filter is really exactly as described.  Detailed, but (for me anyway) sibilance free. The A83's problem is that it has a very high spike at between 7-10Kk (where sibilance is most commonly heard).  The Delta has much less energy around this frequency, and is consequently a lot smoother.

I finally ordered one of these, Brooko :)  Thanks for recommending them, I'm sure I'll enjoy them. . .once I get them, I'll definitely let you know which one of the filters I enjoy best :-D

Just like Brooko was saying about his own preferences, guys, I find the stock gunmetal filter to be the most enjoyable for me :)

These sound gorgeous!  Everything you wrote in this review was absolutely, 100% spot-on, Brooko.  Honestly from now on, if there's a product I am considering getting and you happen to have written a review of it, Brooko, I will consider your evaluation above that of anyone else, due to the fact that my impressions of the Delta are exactly the same as yours :)

Thanks Jack - nice to see the Delta's being appreciated.

Brooko, care to compare these with the Fidelio S2 and/or Hifiman re-400? I would be much obliged

Sorry mate - unfortunately haven't heard either of those two models. All my gear is in my profile if there is anything else that would help

I love your music choices for your reviews (enjoy those too).  There have been several artists of whom I was unaware that I am now enjoying (listening to Amanda Marshall as I type.)

I'm interested in the Deltas and the DN-1000.  I was first leaning toward the Dunu but the black filter seems great for a someone having a mid-ish preference.  If you have made a comparison between the two I missed it.  Would you offer your view or link where you have made that comparison?  Thanks.
