Note that with coax you will have to ensure that your player is set to convert any SACD/DSD source files to PCM.

Not true!   The Hugo accepts DoP over any of its digital inputs (except SD USB).  I have used several USB-SPDIF (i.e coax) converters, including AP2/PP, Hydra-X+, Matrix X-SPDIF and all send DSD just fine.  The Qutes were this way, as well.  We have previously gone over this.

As ted is always correct most of the time and makes sure before he posts unlike some of us. As ME as an example.
But thus true for me as well. I have the AP1se/pp and the offramp 5
It does work fine

What optical cable is everyone using?  I have three of them (Audioquest Forest, Chord Optichord and QED Performance and none of them would fit the Hugo's optical input because the hole is too small.  Any advice please

All I know is that I'm forced to set the Oppo to PCM output if I want to be able to decode an SACD via optical.

The Oppo (105D or otherwise) is not capable of outputting DSD via anything but HDMi.  That is regardless of Hugo or any other DAC.backend.  You spoke generalities about the Hugo (this thread topic) and I needed to correct that, cuz your issues are not Hugo-related.

The optical cable that came with my Hugo works great out of my Ak240. No fit issues, plays 24/192. If you received a cable with your Hugo I would just stick with that.

Exactly,
the 'studio Master DSD version' of Old Farts.

the Hugo really likes it - the definition and resolution is phenomenal! You could close your eyes and imagine they are farting - right in front of you!

any thoughts on pan-depth acoustics?... looking for good rumble before I commit on the master-version...

OK thanks..i guess so long as the Hugo is stationary, no issues will arise.

I really don't see how the Hugo strapped to a phone could be considered portable anyway. All that bulk would quickly grow old for me on the go, so I would consider the Hugo as semi-stationary at best, like when travelling you could use it on a desk in a hotel or something.
It would be too awkward at the gym or on the train, say. And it gets fairly warm too.
