It will be at the end of May for Asia before fresh stock is available again...

What ever is available at the stores now that you can find is from the first few batches from January

There's pretty much no stock anywhere.

After 4 months I still think it's the best. Killed any urge of me to find something else haha

So I got my Sensaphonics custom sleeves at lunchtime. A couple of quick thoughts.

1. The soft-fit is different, but nice.

2. After an initial listen, the sound signature is changed a bit. I only listened to 3 tracks before I made my way back to work, but it seems as if the customs have muted the highs / clarity / treble some. I need to compare against the Comply Tips I was previously using tonight and let you know some more information.

I spend 3 days with the kse1500 and my impressions isn’t very good. I will be 3 more days with this earphone but I don’t think my opinion will changing in that time. Now I have approximately 20 hours of listening. I try many tips (Spinfits, Comply, Etymotic triple flange, Westone star tips, Shure silicone, etc).

The bass and the treble are very very good, the treble is really excellent and the cymbals sound very very real, really fantastic, maybe the best I hear in a headphone or earphone, but there is problem with the midrange, and this is the big problem for me. The sound of the midrange is at the same time forward but is hollow (I use my dictionary to describe exactly this), it isn’t really sound natural, is very strange. My HD800 sound really really better in the midrange, more analogue and real when I’m comparing, and more even with other frequencies.

Even if I prefer the bass and the treble of the kse1500 all together I’m prefering my Flare Audio R2 Pro (it’s cost 400 pounds but I payed 200 pounds because it was special offer in Amazon UK) because the R2 Pro sound all together more close like good speakers. This is very big surprise for me because I thought the Shure will be better, but I honestly think before that maybe not much better (I like my R2 Pro more than JHA Angie and other very expensive earphones). My big surprise is that I prefer the R2 Pros than the kse1500. I was very very exciting because I waited long time to listen to the kse1500 and it’s disappointing for a earphone/headphone that costing $3000 ($3400 in Europe now).

One problem too is I hear also very quiet but constantly high pitch sound all the time, ALL THE TIME, even when the music isn't playing, and this is with all my sources (iPhone 5S, ak240 and MacBook Pro retina). This is not problem for playing loud music of course, but it’s big problem for quiet classical or jazz passage or when I listen in quiet volume in the night. Always I use EQ bypass and I try the both Input Pad 0 dB and -10dB.

I’m surprised too the quality of construction isn’t very good like I think before I try this earphone, it’s very plasticky, I think the se846 looks more better quality. The case of leather for the amp looks very cheap (the stitches isn't not very good quality) and it isn’t exactly in line with the buttons in the side of the amp (this is terrible!). And the case for the iems is very very small! (this is more terrible) When you pay this money you think at least the case store the iems is precise exactly fit for this iems!

I'm really hoping the next generation of kse1500 is better in several ways because I think it’s a lot of potential here.

Yes sadly my leather case top flap has bee ripped off. Those criticism are very valid and just. While I haven't perceived the sonic related issues you have in general stax midrange tend to sound that way.

I forget one important thing, for me. It's the cable noise (microfonic?). This is the first time I'm needing the shirt clip with iems that you wearing around the ear. The cable is heavy and makes noise if you move only a little. Maybe isn't important for others people but I don't like that shirt clip is absolutely necessary. The iem and the amp and the shirt clip is many things for portable solution. Is incredible the difference for me with my R2 Pro, only the iem and my ak240, nothing extra. I do't have this problem when I had se846.

Hello audionewbi.

I don't know if this is typical problem with Stax headphones, the midrange. I never hear before electrostatic system and I was very exciting for this iem because I always read many many times excellent opinions of electrostatic systems but I never remember the midrange is a problem. I remember people sometimes saying electrostatic headphones don't having good or enough bass, sometimes depend on model or amp maybe. The kse1500 have excellent bass in my opinion that go very low when is in the recording.

It isn't a problem of stax but other IEM , we are used to coloured IEM and midrange is where most IEM makers colour the sound the most.
