actually it is...surprisingly. They still fetch good money used and the SQ still holds up with top players. Ive owned this and other AKs, and it's still better than most of the AK Kann line to me. But compared to the current high ranging AKs above Kann, Ill say its between the Kanns but not above the latest coverings over the past 4 years

If you wanna use it for Offline Files yes. For Streaming Services not. It has only Android 6 and you cannot use latest Tidal Version. Besides the CPU is very slow, Qubuz was really annoying to use, Tidal was a bit more fluid. Talking about SQ, it has one best Tunings I've ever heard. With Andromeda 2020 on Balanced Output it was a Match made in Heaven. Hope this helps you

Take the DX300 as it has never Android Version and the SQ is on par with the SE100.

Strange timing no messages in this thread for quite a while. Picked up some Hype 4's and dusted off my SE100 yesterday as I thought it would be a good pairing. It is.

That said, I can't recommend A&K. I purchased the SE100 at launch as they promised it would be Roon Ready in a future upgrade. I'm still waiting...

I decided to buy fiio M15S instead of DX300/se100. Actually, I guess that the sound and tonality of Astell Kern SE100 is very good. I've never listened to either of them. However, I think se100 is now far behind its time. In the simplest terms; Even the fact that it supports a micro SD card with a maximum capacity of 400 GB shows that it is outdated. What do you think of the sound of the Fiio M15S? Do you think it is the right choice along with the ie900s?

I did also had the M15S. They share the same Monster Chip from ESS, but I liked the Tuning of A&K more it was more Musical and fun to me. The M15S has a Tuning I didnt like. As I can remember it was for my liking too analytical and the Treble was also too forward sounding I think this is their FiiO House Sound. A&K had a more balanced Tuning with lovely Mids which is their House Sound.
