just got my m23, updated the firmware straight away, and then have a first listen, the sound is really good!

one wierd thing though about the desktop mode:

with desktop mode switch 'on'

1. when connecting QC3.0 charger thru the orange power usb socket, the desktop mode notification appears only as text on near the bottom of the screen, yet there are only 3 choices of gains: low mid high, on the gain selection

2. only when connecting thru the black usb socket, the blue notification box appears and the super high option appears on the gain selection, total 4 gains selection.

is this normal behaviour?

That hasn’t been my experience at all. If anything, I’ve found that it has more punch than my desktop stack. With that said, I’m only using IEMs with this DAP so I can’t vouch for its performance with full-sized headphones.

For me, i do not find the m23 thin sounding at all. Its smooth detailed extended and with just right amount of warmth, very enjoyable listen. I hope you'll like yours when it arrives..

Hi,
The POWER IN port(orange power usb socket) only supports PD2.0/3.0 fast charging, while other types are recognized as normal charging. Your charger may not support PD2.0/3.0 fast charging, so fast charging is not working and super high gain option is not shown in the gain option when connecting the same charger to power in port.

thank you very much. that explains it, yes correct my charger only support qc3.0(no PD charging), fortunately the desktop mode still works though. the battery is not draining while using the m23 even though only QC3.0 is plugged in on the POWER IN port. all good.

I think a bit of skepticism would be appropriate, it would be a fair assumption that FiiO can make DAP that plays more than a two or three songs at a time, I know both of my M11 Plus do.

So far I have tested 4 units of M23 (two at Canjam SG - alu and SS, my personal unit, and a friend's unit), they all do not exhibit the issue described in the video. I doubt it is a widespread issue, but I'd be interested to know what's the cause though.
