flinkenick's 17 Flagship IEM Shootout Thread (and general high-end portable audio discussion)

Oooh, I would buy that one definitely, but only if the internal wiring would be with gold plated silver and the IEM wouldn´t cost more than $ 1k
Oh, forgot. The internal wiring will be hand-drawn silver of the highest quality in a flat braid, to match the 12-wire stock cable. As for price.... "If you have to ask, you can't afford it."
Sounds like an RMA nightmare... 1 switch broken = channel imbalance for days
They'll let Pinky handle customer service.... :imp:

haha, and they will write glaring fake reviews of their own IEMs. And everyone would buy them and have no cash left for the Christmas presents for their children! Count me in!

Maybe Nic could throw in a set of tuning filters and valves a la FLC8S to counter that possibility?

Speaking of FLC, probably the wrong thread, but is there any more news about their super-tunable flagship yet (Celeste?)?

Last I heard, they had pre-production models at a CanJam quite a few months ago. It's been radio silence since then, I'm afraid.

This is what review samples are for.

I had a think about that and I believe I know what those IEMs would look like: they would be 18-drivers with 17 switches. The first switch (switch #1) would activate 5 of the drivers to create a warm and natural sound with a special ambience to them. The second switch (#2) would activate 14 of the drivers to give a highly resolved and powerful sound with forward vocals. The third switch (#3) would then activate all 18 drivers to create a hyper-detailed and energetic reference sound, which can be contrasted nicely by the fourth switch (#4) that deactivates all but one driver to provide warmth and intimacy will excellent timbre... etc... :D

Oh, and there might be a hidden 18th switch that activates 8 drivers and keeps popping up all the time because it wants to be included as well... :p

Haha, brilliant idea  please count me in as well

That hidden switch should only become secretly activated from a distance by the manufacturer(s) at Easter day, putting the owner in a state of total confusion and ecstasy that day :astonished:

No questions about the price here...
...and yeah, to put a big, bearded guy with a sharp knife collection behind the complaints desk. Now, that's what I call smart thinking

I remember that during one of my many tropical travels, I saw some Asian kids playing on a beach, they seemed so happy and had so much fun with a simple cardboard box. Now I wonder every day why I spend thousand of dollars on such expensive toys and electrical devices for mine  So yeah, the box in which this wonderful iem will arrive could turn into their Christmass present for this year :santa:

Now to find our next target...
I was so nearly there with my wife. Her Trinity Vyrus cable broke and the second cable's connectors were so loose that she nearly lost one of the IEMs, so we had to buy something new. When I showed her the Final E2000 she asked if she could have Calvin & Hobbes on there like mine, so I suggested to buy FIBAE 1 instead and thought I had converted her. Sadly, when she saw the price she felt those were too expensive for her and that landed me in the rather ironic situation that I would have to buy a puppy to bribe her in order for me to be allowed to buy her some custom IEMs...

Would have been sooooo cool! I even had the perfect design idea a while back:
