I'm sure I'm not the only one that cannot make a wired connection to my car.

well there must be something in the HibybR2 and R3 software that is telling my car head unit it’s a android device The R3 actually went to enable Android auto screen before it failed to make a connection

Please set the USB working mode to "device" or "slave" (or similar wording) and USB device mode to "Storage".

Maybe Hiby can fix their software to avoid this issue . It’s clear to me that the Hiby software is presenting itself as an Android device .
at present I can only use Bluetooth audio with the R2 and R3

Did not work either. Said the Hiby R3 is an unsupported USB device. So without a change in the Hiby software i can only play
bluetooth audio on the car.
Besides your (Android) phone, what USB device have you successfully connected to your car USB? Have you been able to connect another non-Android player? What about a large thumbdrive with all you tracks?

It is very possible that your car only support Android devices (or Apple CarPlay) and, in addition, some thumb drives… as long as they are formatted to FAT32 and only contains a limited number of folders and tracks…

Does your car have an Aux 3.5mm input? You can also use this with the R2/R3, but you’ll have to manage what’s playing from the R2/R3.

and, the way it is set (in instructions for hornytoad) R3 *is* a thumb drive. So whether the car head unit reads it depends on the format of the card inserted into the R3.

Download the firmware from HiBy website and put the file r3pro.upt on the root of microSD card. Make sure that R3Pro is powered off, if not, press and hold power button more than 10 seconds. Insert microSD with placed firmware file and then press and hold two buttons together: Power button and Vol+ button (Volume Up) until R3Pro is powered on and Updater V1.1 is appeared on the screen. Wait until update is complete.
You are my god, thanks a lot!!! 😘😘😘
