how does dc elite sound compared to hiby rs8?
Not in the same playing field RS8 is a monster . but i dare to say DC elite can compete with RS6 just different sound profile. Hiby tend to have smoother treble not peaky while remaining spacious and holographic. Hiby also tend to have neutral warm signature. Bass also stronger and louder with DC elite. Dc elite is more neutral but with fun signature (again, extra treble and bass). DC elite have this analytical tendency while Hiby have this musical smooth tendency.

I can't notice the Elite being a problem for bright IEMs. I did a quick test just now using my ie600, often described as bright and peaky in the treble. In the song “Royals - Lorde”, for example, in the first 30 seconds, there is a high beat that is interspersed with a sub-low beat. On the RU7, often described as “natural and almost analogue sounding”, this high pitch bothered my ears and on the DC-Elite I heard it naturally without hurting. I tried to make the best possible volume match in this little test. It is worth noting that the bass in these 30 seconds that I mentioned above is more pleasurable and full on the DC-elite. This could defeat any argument that RU7 is at higher volume. The Elite is my best dongle. Competing with my Ifi Gold Bar. But, definitely, the Elite easily wins over the Gold Bar when we talk about background noise for sensitive IEMs. Total silence at Elite. Great dongle!!!

I use the CB19 with all my dongles.
I feel a substantial improvement through powering a power bank.

How do feel the RU7 and Elite compare to one another in the briefest of bullet points etc...

I have RU7 and an Elite on the way...I love the analogue veneer almost of RU7..almost tube-like in its holographic presentation and cohesion...

After Elite arrived, RU7 hasn't had much of a chance.
I still use the RU7 from time to time, as it has a nice, analog sound that on certain songs and some of my IEMs, has great synergy.
But, for me the Elite has a superior sound. I can't understand how something so good can come out of something so small.
More open, vibrant, a deep silence with any IEM... even with my Andromeda 2020. It was the only dongle that made me question the need to have a DAP for my use case which is exclusively with IEMs, as I use a desktop amp with my open back headphones.
I'm actually looking for a smaller DAP than the DX300 just for the convenience of being an all in one. But even so, I've been researching other people's opinions here at head-fi to find out which DAP will come closest to the sound that the Elite has.
It's definitely the sound I look for in almost all of my IEMs.
It's logical that I'm going to keep the other dongles, as it's always good to have something different to make a good synergy with a certain IEM and a certain song.
But, for me, the DC-elite is my favorite.
