I addressed this post to Mike because he has specific knowlege of the speakers I am refering to. If any and everyone wants to chime in, please do. The more inputs the better.
Anyway, After a long hiatus, I'm back into audio thanks to discovering Headwise. My last setup consisted of an early 80's Hafler/ M&K system. Before that I had Some DCM Time Windows, and before that some mid-70's JBL L100s and L200s.
The L100s were my favorites by far. I may very well be what you consider a dum-bass, but if I am, it's high quality bass that I want.
It will soon be time to put together a new system but I have no idea where to start. I have no knowledge of what's out there, and I live in a small city with limited opportunities for auditioning.
Any suggestion would be appreciated. I will budget $1500. or so for speakers.
