I remember ONIX from the 80s and they were very good at doing amps etc. Did they have a hand in the final voicing etc of the kit you make with/for them or help them with?
We work with ONIX on manufacturing and software, but overall design and audio tuning is done by ONIX team.

Was interested in this till read about amp section being the TPA6120A2.
Is there any particular reason to go with this ancient headphones amplifier chip other than costs?

It's favourite component by our audio engineers and both our team and ONIX team likes its sound. It has been used among quite a few of Shanling and ONIX models.

Looks nice, glad to see new non-android (or at least customized for music playback android) players are still being designed.
Is there a lock switch?

Is there a lock switch?

You can lock all the buttons and volume control, at which point only the press on volume wheel actives the player.

Does it have a line out?

It has line-out mode, no dedicated line-out circuit.

Kind of a small audio interface chip is it not?
Do you know any good sources that give a broad sweep on a variety of amps/dacs for light reading?

This looks like a cool device. I like the dial on the bottom with the outs.
It's a nice amp chip with a follower circuit to actually lower the output impedance like here.

The ONIX does NOT have a high output impedance and should work well with any IEM and almost all headphones.
