I'd say neutral-ish too... but with huge power. Bass hits hard, and there's a lot of space conveyed. It's got a pretty ballsy sound, that's for sure. It handily outperforms my long-time L&P W2.

any chance that you or @Redcarmoose have tried ddHiFi TC44B or TC44C to compare?

Penon Tail received ... With other goodies
Penon Tail 20230726.jpg

After a few hours of listening I must say that it's a nice DAC, with many details and more than needed power (for me).
It confirm that I really appreciate the CS43131 DAC, especialy when it's well implemented, like that.
Tail is a real upgrade on Jcally JM30, with the same DAC.

With Ap80 pro it's a good portable way of listening music.
Tail pairs well with penon 10th, giving precise highs and nice voices.
It's more Dynamic than with my M15.

It can even drive easily my HD700, on the balanced output (power 20/100 with ap80 pro, on low gain).
And I can hear nice rumble with this ring. :)
