The difference between the HiFiMAN 'Serenity Pads' and 'Ultra Pads' is the former do not come with the mesh - whereas the latter do come with the mesh.
So you mean a scissor will convert that Ultra to Serenity pads? And why are we discussing tampons now?

Since we're talking pads, is there any audible difference between the stock and Dekoni Elite Fenestrated sheepskin pads on the HEKS or are they for comfort/looks? Most people seem to talk about the Dekonis as the best alternative.

Pad thickness will alter the sound of your headphones. How it does that really depends on how they built the headphone.

If the driver is too packed in you can get some pressure build up when listening to music so your ear feels stuffed up. Thicker pads help ease that and you can feel bass vibrations better and the treble is more toned down.

That said thicker pads can also make the sound weaker if the ears are too far away. Gotta test them yourself because everyone’s ears are different.

I just wanted to add to the pad discussion. I'm using Ntraxmod pads and I love the comfort, they're smooth and soft. The pads are a lot thicker than stock and seem to add even more to the soundstage without hurting anything. I also hear a hint more bass.

The only downside is the price and the shipping on top of that, makes them super expensive.
