Astell & Kern Kann Max vs SR35

I can tell you that the User Interface is much better with the Kann Max. The SR series tend to be very sluggish and slow.

I own the Socrates and they are very very neutral. Huge soundstage and depth. Very clear and detailed. Bass is present but not boomy. Treble is clear and refined.

I own the Eletech Raphael and have used it on Shure and Weston’s IEMs. They are very “live” sounding. It sounds as if you are close to the stage.

    PRE-ORDER: Astell&Kern 4.4mm MMCX Cable (PEP11)

I use this cable with my Westone W60 iem’s. Great match. Fine detail without it sounding harsh in the treble. Very open soundstage.

Has anyone else been experiencing some static like noise during softer passages with the SE300? Been hearing this noise while playing softer classical music. It’s not loud but noticeable.

NEW Bronze Dragon IEM headphone cable

So glad moon audio brought back the MMCX connector. I have Shure and Westone iem’s and they sound great with the dragons.

    Cables for Westone W60's

Hello again. Well I have to admit that I was wrong. I connected my Astell & Kern upgrade cable which is all silver to the W60s and they sound so much better. It actually has more bass and the treble is not bright at all. Very open soundstage. May have to sell my Socrates cables now. Anyway, good...

    Cables for Westone W60's

The w60s are very neutral sounding. I think silver cables would make them too bright. I’m using the Eletech Socrates cable which is a very neutral sounding copper cable. Also tried the moon-audio bronze cable which is also copper. Also good, but the Socrates is way smoother with wider soundstage.

    Astell&Kern SE300 A&futura

I’ve had my SE300 for about six weeks. It sounded great out of the box but even better after a few days of break in. The resistors need to be “exercised” I’m guessing. Very neutral sounding. A recent firmware upgrade improved response. Very happy with it.

    Meze EMPYREAN II

Congratulations. They do require some break in so they will sound better after some time.

    Astell&Kern A&ultima SP3000

Apple Music works great on the SP3000. Faster downloads than Qobuz. I didn’t hear or detect any compromises.

    Astell&Kern A&ultima SP3000

Hi Denis, good inquiry. Amps always add an increase in sound quality. Granted I haven’t listened to every headphone. What I was getting at was ability to “drive” vs. sufficient power. Better sound quality is a different topic. But they are all related and do overlap. Peace.

    C9 + Astell & Kern SE300 + Meze Empyrean II = amazing sound.

I’ve owned both the Red and Cobalt. One is not “better” than the other. They are just different. I personally preferred the Red but with the jitterbug. The Cobalt has one built in. Red was just punchier in my opinion. Some may prefer the smoothness of the Cobalt.

    Astell&Kern A&ultima SP3000

The SP3000 is perfect with iem’s. 6.3 volts is plenty of power for them. Headphones is another story. Although it will drive Focal and Meze headphones, an external amp will definitely be beneficial, especially with planar headphones.
