The Sennheiser HE1 and how I came back after 16 years hiatus from Headfi (acquisition, unboxing, installation, and impressions over time)

Yes It improves kinda how a couple glasses of fine wine settles in. First goal is to acquire a set or two tubes, and a set or two of ear pads. The problem is actually sourcing it. And the cost. I anticipate double set of each would run me back $3000. As for tube rolling, I have yet no clue...

I’ve followed reviews It seems subpar compared to current offerings though. Not sure if the time and expense would be justified. IMO. I do wonder if a baby HE1 is possible. It might not be without significant compromises.

Fascinating discussion. This is what I hoped to garner with my thread. Regarding DACs and the yield on speakers versus headphones, much to explore I still have. I can see how that is true however, given the variability and flaws of a multiway speaker is more apparent than a smaller and better...

The Sennheiser HE1 and how I came back after 16 years hiatus from Headfi (acquisition, unboxing, installation, and impressions over time)

Good question. It’s a question I’ve pondered. Prior to the acquisition of the HE1, I was not sure if the goal of accomplishing the mission would be achieved so I had purchased a back up. That said, I think I will continue on the pursuit of other headphones. While the HE1 is the complete...

True. But even in this HE1 system… there are improvements within the playback system as I have been exploring and will expand on soon. I think part of the audiophile hobby is the art of tweaking the sound to what you like. My speaker system sound is about 95% of what I feel is humanly...

Have not but have owned Bowers 802d2, 800d3, 802d3, and still have the 802d4 in our gameroom. Had the Sonus Faber Stradivari. Have the Olympica 3 in the family room to appease the wife. Had the Rockport Avior. I have not heard Genelec but will check into it. The Magico M2 system may be simple...

I want to say thank you for allowing me to share my journey and passion. It’s what makes this hobby fun. To share with others so they can enjoy and maybe for those who want an HE1, better understand the intricacies of the unit. I am gathering my thoughts for the start of the impressions. I...

The fun is in the hanging out. You must have an equally impressive system to have HRS SXR and I see you have the newer version of my Emm Dac. Had I not been into other sources like vinyl, I would also have chased the digital dragon. Unfortunately you’re right, funds are always limited...

Hmm This anti vibration platform might just work for the HE1 considering it is 60 lb or so. Too bad I’ve run out of hobby budget. Minus K

My friend Chris has the only pair of the Magico M9 in the Dallas area. To say he is rich beyond my wildest dreams is not a stretch, totally functions at a higher level this guy.

I have journeyed far and tried many speakers. The Magico M2 are about as far as I need speakers to take me. There are better yes. But it has to be congruent to the room. You can’t just stuff the biggest and baddest in the room and expect great results. Unlike headphones, you need to account...

And if that previous post does not encapsulate what the HE1 means to me, nothing else does. Next up, I will start to pen my thoughts on the sound. I am currently on vacation with the family so my HE1 remains dormant. But I have a decent aural memory of all that I have heard/experienced.
