We "audiophiles" all suffer from trained hearing. We hear something we like, we try to replicate it. Non-audiophiles are happy as long as they can hum along. My hearing is very trained since it's been defective from birth. Only way I can understand someone is to hear them multiple times...

Mini-M is an old IBM-designed keyboard with the best switches ever made. Not for the faint of heart :-) It's been revived by the company I linked to.

I don't know about comparisons to other versions, DACs. The Gumby I had, bought new in May 2017, definitely matched the first description above. It's a cognac DAC compared to all those brandy DACs :-)
