Introducing ONIX Overture XM5 - First Portable Player from ONIX

Reviews are probably incoming. How is the volume knob - is it stepped or smooth, and how stiff is it to turn it? (I watch for these tiny details because of pocket usage, for example I hated DC Elite stiff knob which I need to invest 2 fingers and force to turn it :))
It has steps, but they are quite smooth and overall wheel is easy to turn.

It's recessed into the body and especially if you have the leather case, it's well protected from accidental turns.

Thanks, good to hear that

I received mine on Wednesday...
So far I think it sounds fantastic... Volume knob is clicking but smooth, easy to turn... Definitely no need to use two fingers.
So far my only concern is that there's no gapless playback on DSD. This was confirmed to me by the Onix support team.

Hopefully gapeless should be fixable with firmware. How much does it take to fully charge the device? I recently got the Questyle cma18 and even though it sounds very nice and analogish, it gets warm/hot pretty fast and charging I think went for 4 hours

Cant say how long it takes to charge cause I haven't charged it yet... 51% still going strong... Personally, I don't think it gets too warm...

I see it has desktop mode, will that also mean it will skip the need of battery usage in this mode?

Ok maybe it doesn't have it then. I mean when you use it as a dac connected to the windows pc.

I tested it yesterday as a desktop dac, and the battery would charge, I don't think it has a "desktop" mode per se, though it would be nice...
That is good - as long as it doesn't need to use the battery while using on pc (like cma18p)

XM5 is always powered by battery, it doesn't have option to run only on USB power.
You can turn off charging when using it as USB DAC, that can help with the battery health long term.

It would be great if the shell is not hard to open to switch batter in the future. Ordered one and awaiting arival next week probably :)

@Shanling

When can we finally add Windows 11 support? Every other system is supported.
I really wish I could use my M1s for it.

Or can we just get UAC driver integration so I can use it for the switch or Xbox?

I might even get the new xm5 or m5 ultra for that feature alone.

Please what issue are you facing on Windows 11? Can you send us direct message about it? Are you talking Windows 11 support on XM5?

UAC1 is only available on our portable DAC/AMPs, we do not add it to the portable players.
