I'm updating my living room system and parting with my Sony HAP-S1. Spotify Connect doesn't work anymore (I think due to incompatibility with current Spotify versions) but all else is functioning.

I am not the first owner (bought from a fellow Head-Fi'er a few years ago) but have kept it in good condition. I replaced the original hard drive with a bigger (1 TB) solid state drive. It amps bookshelf speakers quite well (I rarely turned my Klipsch speakers above 25% volume) and the DAC is quite good.

It plays DSD, Wav, and FLAC files from its hard drive or an external source (digital or analog), and is also able to rip CDs to FLAC or Wav from a USB CD drive. All sound very good through my Meze Liric and ZMF cans.

One caveat, this is not a network streamer. The best way to stream music on this system is to use connect a source by optical or coax. The WiFi and Ethernet on this are for app remote control or locally syncing audio files to the hard drive.

Hi, Have you ever noticed the fan working on this unit?
I know it works as I've felt air blowing out, but I kept it in a semi-enclosed space in my TV stand so it may have been warmer in there. I've never heard it running loud and I think since I installed a solid state drive it hasn't needed to run as much.
