New Head-Fier
Pros: Price, sound, and build is incredible
Cons: No cable
I had the privilege of giving a listen to these Ultraudio through the maker himself, Neo. I bought two other pairs that he made for me through eBay, a 3 driver and a 5 driver, but needed more, and became friends with him over our love of good audio.
I've now been listening to them about a month and I’ll go through the gamut and tell you about packaging, comfort, sound, and overall thoughts.
Packaging:
Super simple, as you can see in the pics, it comes with a small solid case for everything, 6 sets of buds, and the earphones themselves (no cable). I like it better than the larger Pelican case that comes with a lot of the higher end earphones, like Noble.
Comfort:
Ok, when first saw pictures of them, I was nervous. They look like customs, not universal. So, I didn't really know what to expect when I got them. Then, I listened to them on my commute into work on the train (45 minutes), all day (8+ hours), and my commute home, with no pain. Even my SE846 would get bothersome after a few hours and these bad boys just floated in my ears. I ordered a few pairs of triple flange buds and prefer them, but he told me that future orders might just come with them.
Cable:
While, he makes cables (and they look awesome), these didn't come with any, so I used a pair of Null Lune Series MKIII upgrade cable and a custom Impact Audio cables. I prefer the Null over the Impact. The half sleeve cover is so soft and it never tangles. It's just premium as all hell.
Sound:
With 8 drivers per ear, you want to know how the sound is, right? This is why we’re all hear (intended dad pun).
While, you need no amplification on them, I sometimes put them on my Schitt Fulla 2 to take them to the next level, but definitely unnecessary.
I would put these head to head with the Shure SE846 and I think a lot of people might even prefer them. From what I remember, the Noble Encore still stand as my favorite earphones, but they're also almost 5 times the price, made of metal, and have 2 more drivers.
The bass is deep, the treble is crisp, and the soundstage is out of this world. Listening to Bubbles, by Yosi Horikawa on these earphones is not only incredible, but it's an experience. I felt my breathing change and my heart speed up. They will definitely point out the flaws in tracks that aren't up to par, so prepare yourself if you think you've got clean mp3s.
If you're into classic rock, rap, electronic, classical, literally anything, these earphones will treat you well. I'm excited to see where the maker goes. Some day, I want to try is 18 driver set.
I used this playlist to test if you want to check it out:
And, by the time I was done with them, I got into some psytrance too, which is incredible on them:
Overall:
As the title suggests, these are the flagship killer you're looking for. The Ultraudio are simply the best earphones for the price, anywhere in the world.
