P.s. I'm using the universals next to a busy street with cars driving by at 40 mph and while they isolate sufficiently in this loud environment (unlike the ie800) -- it's not quite as good the shures with professional comply tips. But those tips are made of a dense material so I'll have to wait...

What does an impedance adapter do? make it harder for current to reach the headphone? That's an interesting thing that I'd like to try just to see how it affects the sound.   I also wish there was a headphone jack adapter that told you exactly how many watts/volts were coming out of the jack...
