USB-C to 3.5mm adapters (DAC) - Let's find the best
There has been occasional discussion here about USB-C hubs that allow the use of a power bank for better dongle performance and less source batter drain. With my iPad, I've found that this Maxonar hub does the job for me. This Aceele hub was mentioned a while ago, but I can't get the same result...- backdrifter

USB-C to 3.5mm adapters (DAC) - Let's find the best
But the proof of the pudding is in the eating, and the TP50 sounds better to me. I'd say the DC04Pro sounds a bit congested in comparison. The TP50 is more resolving and dynamic in my experience.- backdrifter

USB-C to 3.5mm adapters (DAC) - Let's find the best
I got the EPZ TP50 a few days ago, prompted by Andy's favorable review. My initial assessment is that it's excellent, and a substantial improvement over the Tanchjim Space and the iBasso DC04Pro, at least through my MP145. The combination is pretty amazing, IMO. Looking forward to reading...- backdrifter

I agree that both phenomena reflect standing waves that are determined by tube length. In that respect, their is an analogy. If that's you're point, I agree with it. But as I said, I was responding to comments about whether eartip insertion can affect brightness or high frequency response...- backdrifter

First, thank you for the pdf. It's an interesting article. Not having spent time with it, though, I still feel there might be a misunderstanding here. Yes, the trumpet player's lips produce the sound, but the sounds are determined by the harmonic series of the length of tubing that is the...- backdrifter

I hope people realize that varying insertion depth of your IEM is not analogous to selecting the natural harmonics of a tube or string. Your ear canal is not vibrating like a trumpet and generating sound.- backdrifter

USB-C to 3.5mm adapters (DAC) - Let's find the best
Just a few things to mention: My DC04Pro USB connection disconnects easily when slightly bumped. It's annoying. The Space connection is rock solid. In my opinion, the BHD Pro doesn't sound as good as either the DC04Pro or the Space. It's good but just not on the same level. I'll try the firmware...- backdrifter

I was disappointed with the KA5. Maybe I didn't give it enough of a chance. But the DC04PRO was so much better to my ears, I decided not to hang onto it.- backdrifter

What are the advantages of multiple-BA compared to single BA?
The best IEM I've heard is the Etymotic ER4SR, and it's a single BA. To me, it makes sense to put the transducer as close to the eardrum as possible, rather than introduce additional structures and spaces outside the ear canal with their own acoustics. I bought an IEM with multiple Knowles BAs...- backdrifter

I think it depends a lot on how sensitive your headphones or earphones are. The default volume might be too high for safety with some devices. Regardless, you have to find a way to protect your hearing.- backdrifter
