    MSR7 or Momentum 2.0 (downgrading from DT770)

Meze 99's are usually my recommendation for portable headphones, but i haven't heard the 2 that you are considering, also the meze's are about $300 new or closer to about $200ish used.

Headphones for a Small Head Index

Yes, you are correct. I did say difficult, not impossible. Those are also on ear, not over. Some people such as myself do prefer over ear, but i do have a large head and some what large ears.

Headphones for a Small Head Index

It's difficult enough finding good sounding headphones under $100 let alone comfortable ones, not including build quality. I wish you luck though.

Fostex HP-A4BL (the A4 with balanced output)

Thank you for the fast response and have you tried them single ended? Is balance worth it?

Fostex HP-A4BL (the A4 with balanced output)

I was thinking of getting the HP-A4BL for my pair of meze 99's and m1060c's. I also want to get balance cables that end in 4 pin xlr for both so i can use the xlr output on this amp/dac.so, finally my questions: does the amp part have enough to power the m1060c's? I know planar headphones can be...

    Best Dac/Amp under $500

Just for future reference there is the xduoo ta-10 out now, a good desktop dac/amp combo for about $300. It is a tube hybrib, but because of that outputs about 2 watts a channel through the balanced xlr output.

    Amp/Dac up to $ 400.

Also the xduoo ta-10 does 2 watts a channel through the xlr balanced output i believe.

    Amp/Dac up to $ 400.

If you're interested in or at least not against chinese options then the xduoo ta-10 is a pretty great amp/dac that is a tube hybrid for about $300 new. Has about the same quality dac as about $100 stand alone dacs, but the amp is great and tube rolling (swapping out tubes) can actually get more...

420$/377€ Setup for Beginner (Metal-Jazz mainly)

It's really a personal thing honestly. Some people think m1060's are comfortable enough as is and other people swap pads and do things to the head band. So, i guess i should have said that i believe the k712's to be the most comfortable. It's just like sound, it's subjective not objective for...

420$/377€ Setup for Beginner (Metal-Jazz mainly)

I haven't tested the 770's to be honest, but the k712 are more comfortable than the 770 or 990, but part of that is because they are lighter.

    420$/377€ Recommendation (EU)

Yes, but you have to take into consideration his overall budget for the dac/amp AND headphones

    Possibilities

Fair enough, thanks for the advice. =] well as far as reversible DIY's i was gonna swap the pads and the cable. Would you happen to have any suggestions for a decent dac/amp? I was looking at a xduoo ta-10
