The E-Mu Teak is probably my closest point of reference, if you have any ability to make such comparisons.- dstarr3

iFi iDSD Signature Finale, popping on signal stop/resume
I have an iDSD Sig Finale, love it, it's a tremendous combo DAC/amp. Using it on my Windows PC. But I'm noticing that when the audio signal stops, the amp seems to immediately enter a sleep mode and there will be some audible popping in the headphones when this happens. Similarly, there will be...- dstarr3

Total IEM newb: daily-driver bangers under $160-200? (you guessed it, with tons of bass...)
Campfire Audio occasionally has B-Stock Honeydews for under $200. I'm not really an IEM guy so I don't know how they compare to others, but I'm definitely a basshead and they more than satisfy my desire for the occasional outrageous stinky bass riot, lol- dstarr3

Crack;Bottlehead OTL
One of the headphones in my collection that I'm struggling to enjoy is the AKG K712 Pro. Great soundstage and very energetic and engaging, but the highs are just so grainy. I bet my BHC would do a good job of smoothing them out, but I'm hesitant to connect the two since the K712 is only 62 ohms...- dstarr3

The AKG K712 Pro Support and Impressions Thread
I picked up a 712 last year because I really enjoy my 702, but I gotta admit, I'm kind of struggling to enjoy the 712. The 702 is this airy, clean, clear, spacious, and delicate thing that greatly enhances mellow listening sessions. The 712, though... sure, it still preserves the wide sound...- dstarr3

For those of us with multiple headphones, which ones are you listening with now?
Qobuz FLAC Schiit Bifrost 2/64 Bottlehead Crack (non-SB w/ RCA 6AS7G black plate & RCA 12AU7 clear top tubes) Beyerdynamic DT880 600-ohm I was seeing a lot of talk on the forums today about the different Beyer 880 variants, and also a lot of talk about OTL tube amps. And I thought, Hey, I have...- dstarr3

Meze 99 Classics Discussion + Impressions Thread
Well, consider the world of hi-fi speakers. A major component of the resulting sound quality from speakers is the room they're in. The size and shape of the room, the speaker placement and direction inside the room, the acoustic treatment of any reflective surfaces in the room, etc etc. With...- dstarr3

New Sennheiser HD 620S Closed Back
Sennheiser has a pretty spotty history with closed-backs, so while they are one of my favorite brands, I'm definitely going to wait for some impressions to emerge after launch- dstarr3

Meze 99 Classics Discussion + Impressions Thread
Yeah, unfortunately removing leather earpads and replacing them with velour earpads will unavoidably alter the sound. You could maybe try hybrid pads which have velour only where it actually touches your body, and while such pads will still alter the sound, hybrids might alter it less so than...- dstarr3

The Thinksound OV21 is currently on sale for $200 and it's a real U-shaped rock monster. Always impressed by the punchiness of the sub-bass and the sweetness of the highs. I own both this headphone and the E-Mu Teaks, and I'm always surprised by how close the OV21 gets to doing the Teaks' thing...- dstarr3
