I just ordered the V60, I haven't had a V series phone since the V20 and I remember there being an issues where the quad DAC only worked with the stock music player, not with PowerAmp. Has this been rectified or do you still need to stick to the stock music app to get the quad DAC benefits? Thanks.

For 2k, you can grab the Sennheiser HDV820 off eBay. That's where I got mine, I consider it a good deal. It's specifically tuned for the HD800S, and I personally love the combo.

I'n sure they are always working on something, but being that the HD800S is barely three years old, I think it will be a couple of years at least before we see any kind of upgrade/replacement.

This is such a great point. These headphones shine with quality recordings, but really accentuate flaws in poor recordings, which sadly are in abundance in my collection. Having a less revealing set of cans for these recordings might be ideal. I've never considered that before.

I'll be really curious to hear the comparisons with the Z1R. There haven't been a lot of those.

Right now I'm very happy with my HD800S/Z1R combo, but I'm very curious to see how the HD820 sounds. If it can surpass the Z1Rs in terms of soundstage and dynamics, I'll sell the ZIRs, and make the HD820 my go-to closed back. But that's a tall order, even judging by the early reviews.

There's definitely more detail retrieval with the Utopias, they're more clarifying or resolving or whatever headphone-speak you want to use. I think if money is not an option, having both would be pretty perfect. There's some genres that each handles better than the other, but when I have tried...

I can't speak for the Clear, but the Utopia lacks the soundstage of the HD800S and doesn't really have deep bass. I prefer the HD800S personally.
