I'll take a stab at this. Yes, the Brooklyn will be a huge upgrade from the Modi you have now. That is the only DAC I have heard so far that can get every smallest detail from the recording , yet even the harsh, bad, unlistenable recordings sound sweet and analog and warm. Those two things...- grigorianvlad

After a few years of enjoying my Brooklyn DAC+ I upgraded to a Manhattan II. I expected a very small difference if any (after all the Brooklyn is very, very good!). But the difference is ginormous.- grigorianvlad

Yes, FLAC files and such. I use the same VST plugin Stereo Tool, have used it for the past 5 years or so, cant live without it. Please explain the "exclusive mode", never heard of it. Thank you for suggesting VAC as well.- grigorianvlad

Connecting Two Computers for DSD Playback
Hey, gang. I have a problem. I can use either a VST plugin or a DSD conversion. I need both. I use JRiver MC v28, which is outstanding in all aspects. A few years ago I got hooked on a VST plugin that is very recourse-demanding. The PC where the JRiver+VST installation runs has enough RAM (16GB)...- grigorianvlad

Please contact them first . They may not be doing any upgrades for a while. Or handling support tickets for that matter. I opened a ticket back in the beginning of April. All I heard was "transferring to Brooklyn office", that is it. I don't blame them one bit. In times like this many gear...- grigorianvlad

It is not enough to have a good DAC like the Brooklyn, you also have to use a good power cable, digital and analog interconnects. But rarely audiophiles pay any attention to USB ports on their MediaServers or HTPC computers. That doesnt make sense: paying a grand or two for a USB cable that...- grigorianvlad

That sums it up perfectly, thanks. The entire errand is futile. I am sure this DSD thing is a fad that wont last out the year (and it is December the 31st!) I am sure I won't be able to tell a difference between a 48khz/24bit and a 41kHz/16bit version of the same LP rip, so there is no need to...- grigorianvlad

I recently read that a Brooklyn DAC+ can also be used as an ADC. I cant see how that would be possible. Besides, there is a Brooklyn ADC Mytek makes, why would they kill their cash cow by combining both functionalities in single device? The reason I am asking I got into digitizing my vinyl. The...- grigorianvlad

So, either jack can be used and both will sound equally good? Or just one? Which and why?- grigorianvlad

I have never heard the Golden Atlantic, it may be as good as you say. But mind the price difference. The Brooklyn is $2,000, the Lampizator is $10,000. That is a five times price difference. I am sure a dCS Vivaldi stack will, in turn, smoke the Lampizator , but that DAC costs $108,496.00. You...- grigorianvlad

It is one thing to enjoy a Brooklyn DAC+ in a modest desktop setup with monitors, but it is a completely different level of enjoyment to listen to it with a good, reference level tube power amp like Audio Research Reference 75. Only then you begin to comprehend what that excellent DAC can...- grigorianvlad
