  1. Denon AH-D7100 Music Maniac

    4.50 star(s)
Acquired a pair of 7100's at a reduced brand new price of 449.00 and have been pleased with them. Comfort wise the memory foam earpads are one of the most comfy I've used. Sound is great for dance, hip hop as well as a bit of rock. Bass is plentiful but doesn't overpower the mids / highs. Generally a great pair of fun cans for general listening.
  2. Astell & Kern AK120

    5.00 star(s)
I first listened to the AK100 at the London meet as Axell Grell - Chief sound engineer at Sennheiser had been raving about them and after a listen I was sold. So when the AK120 was released, I knew I'd have to get one. Absolutely beautiful little player. It's just a gorgeous chunk of tech that feels good to hold. For me personally tech has to have form as well as function and the AK120 doesn't disappoint on either front. SQ is the best that I've heard and I'd rate it higher than the DX100. Spending 1k plus on a high end DAP is going to be a big...
  3. Sennheiser HDVD800

    5.00 star(s)
I first listened to the HDVD800 in Vegas at the CES Show in January 2013 and wasn't sure if it was worth the £1500 asking price, mainly due to the noisy environment at the show. Having spent some time with it at the London Head-Fi Meet and the chance to try it with the balanced XLR Cable with the HD800's, I was completely sold and knew I'd have to get one asap. Fast forward a couple of weeks later and courtesy of Custom Cable, I have one on my desk.   Balanced cable isn't on general release yet from Sennheiser, however I have one on order. Now...
  4. Sennheiser Amperior On-Ear Headphones

    5.00 star(s)
I wasn't really in the market for another set of headphones, but i happened to be in the Apple Store buying a cable and was just having a general look around when I saw the Amperiors. I decided to have a listen and was seriously impressed. I'm now writing this review after having listened to them for about 12 hours in total. Firstly the cups are made from Aluminium and not some cheap plastic and look / feel very classy and the foam pads are clothed in a really nice velour type material. Comfort wise they are good for me with a fairly big head...
  5. Toxic Cables Silver Poison

    5.00 star(s)
It was with some trepidation that I paid 160 GBP for a set of Toxic Cable's Silver Poison's...given that the IE80's cost 220GBP in the first place. Firstly, I can say on balance I'm pleased with them. I'm aware that there could well be a certain psychological effect in the fact that I expect the sound to seem better, so it is, however I do feel that overall there is an improvement. The IE80's seemed to my ears to be recessed in the midrange with the emphasis on low's and the upper frequencies were a tad too bright. The silver poison cables seem to...
  6. Sennheiser MOMENTUM

    4.50 star(s)
Very impressed with the Sennhesier Momentum's. Sound is fairly balanced with clear highs & lows. They're stylish without being 'in your face' like various brands such as Beats. The quality of the leather on the earcups is impressive and I'm finding that I can use them for a couple of hours at a time with no discomfort.   Using them straight into my iPhone 4S and 320kbps tracks from spotify is giving me excellent sound and I'm happy to use these without my Fiio E17 so that I can make / receive calls whilst out & about. Call quality is good and no...
  7. FiiO E17

    4.50 star(s)
Great little amp that improvs the sound on my IE80's no end. I use it everyday for commuting and have no hesitation recommending for out of home use. Bought in the UK from Amazon for £100
