Sony phones have pretty much always used same class d Dac/amp chip as their Walkman players, called S master HX. Can always spot it by the ridiculously low power output.

Since the look like this already, assume you have soldering tools. So Take a solder pump and put it on top and just use the pump function to suck up the dent, this way no s*** will be left on the driver. Do take care not to jab the pump into or through the diaphragm, also first hold the pump...

Was interested in this till read about amp section being the TPA6120A2. Is there any particular reason to go with this ancient headphones amplifier chip other than costs?

Wish you success with this @MOONDROP , truly hope you succeed where so many have failed before. Hope more people today are interested in this then there where 10 years ago. Demand is what ultimately killed all the music phones of yesteryear. Price is good, despite the weak soc, hope it supports...

Pure dsd signal can not be equalised using digital domain, it is literally impossible, because it just on or off, 1 bit. It can be converted to pcm and then equalised, but then why would you even have it as dsd if you need to use EQ for it.

Nice, was actually hoping for something like this with this dac chip. Excited to hear more specs and price.

So looks like no line out, well for the price was probably to much to expect it.

Does it have line out functionality?

Does anyone know what the input sensitivity is on this, or what is max input voltage before clipping?

Sennheiser used to have hd 230, closed back two driver headphones back in early 80's. Back then there was a lot of experimenting in the headphone space to figure out what works best. One full range driver has been deemed the way to go.
