Going fully Wireless IEMs. Too soon? Or are we there yet?
I've searched the thread and found nothing, so apologies if a repeat, but is there a model that has a mute button or ability to set a mute button AND doesn't sound like crap for calls? I end up walking and talking a lot of conference calls, and it would be real handy to have an actual mute...- Leland

Buying portable or in-ear headphones? Seeking guidance? DON'T START A NEW THREAD. Ask for advice HERE!
Hi all, Started a new thread and missed this sticky. Correcting that error now. Looking for IEMs with no microphonics and tangle free cords. Prefer with a microphone so I can get on the phone when needed. $100 or less seems about right in terms of $pend. Sound quality secondary to...- Leland

Tanglefree cords, no microphonics IEMs
Thanks for the tips. Going to move over to the big thread. And as to type of music, eclectic taste and prefer balanced sound across the tonal spectrum (Paradigm speakers at home) as opposed to uber-bassy.- Leland

Tanglefree cords, no microphonics IEMs
With microphone preferred. Sound quality secondary to having tanglefree cord and lack of microphonics. Going to use for travel, gym, etc. Nothing worse than being woken awake by microphonics :) Have anything for me?- Leland

how tight should an iem seal be?
Also, I've tried the flip flop mod, but seems hard to get a good seal. Perhaps I'm not doing it quite right, but I'm definitely getting chewing/swallowing feedback so I'm there. Just wasn't as much isolation as I was expecting OR I was surrounded by some really loud people.- Leland

how tight should an iem seal be?
Thanks for the replies - I think I had some fantasy expectations Or maybe wasn't prepared for 5 screaming babies and a rocky flight on my first voyage using IEMs. So yes, with music I do get a decent seal and isolation that is good but definitely doesn't block out the engine hum of a plane...- Leland

how tight should an iem seal be?
Ok, I guess I have a good seal then. I definitely get the mini-suction but it doesn't stay consistently. I've been using the UE super fi 3's with either the medium tips or the biflange. I have been saving the foamies for a flight to Asia this week.- Leland

how tight should an iem seal be?
I'm a new IEM user and just got a pair of super.fi.3's. How silent should the outside world be with no music playing? I can still hear things that you're supposed to hear, like cars and airline announcements. I'd rather not, though. Should I be shoving the phones deeper in the ear with a...- Leland

Top recommendations for Airplane headphones
Next update. So far I've had a bit of trouble with the fit, with all sizes. That has left the bass lacking as I can't get a great seal. I've also tried the alternate fit - the cable swap method, but that seemed worse to me. I'm going to use the foamies on a flight to Asia this week, and if...- Leland

Personally active noise cancellation makes me a bit dizzy after a while. I prefer the passive. I ended up buying, mainly because of price and availability, the Super Fi 3's at Radioshack. They were $40 after a $10 coupon (from your local paper). So far the fit hasn't come naturally to me...- Leland

help deciding on entry IEMs
There's also a $10 coupon floating around local newspapers that makes the super.fi.3's only $40. I think I'm going that route tomorrow - seems like a good deal and should be easy to return if need be.- Leland

newbie wanting rec:100~200$ IEM mostly classical music
Use foobar and do an A/B test - you'll quickly see whether you can tell the difference or not. My guess is that you won't care as long as the tunes are flowing and the outside world is shut out.- Leland

Homemade tips for IE's?
Bose have an open design - you'd need to plug the driver and that would make them sound terrible. Using foam is probably as good as you'll get. If you find the best post for you can you link it back here? This place needs a wiki badly.- Leland
