Not saying that it isn't a problem, but the possibility of it being fixable with EQ is still there. Another possibility is that it takes some time to get used to the sound signature of a new headphone. Maybe it will sound more natural after a while. Brain burn-in is real.

Slightly behind HD600 is still far superior to most headphones on the market though. If EQ can get it closer to 600 while maintaining other technical advantages it could be a keeper.

Could you provide some information upon what the HD580 does better than the Auteur? In most Auteur review it's considered the all-around upgrade from the HD650. I'm curious in what could the HD580 could be superior to the Auteur.

Tyll has measured the FR curve of Utopia pads on the Elear and it doesn't look good, the 10k peak gets tames down a bit but the presence region dip doesn't improve at all, in addition to that the Utopia pad introduce a hump at 1k. Aornic also has a video regarding the effect of pad swapping...

I wish they would make something with the Beryllium dome but without the flower-like magnet structure and those fancy material such as the carbon fiber yoke and the lambskin headband to keep the cost(and price) down. But it's not very likely.

Just curious, could the driver failure being caused by the voice coil detaching from the dome? I think the former-less voice coil may have a higher possibility being detached from the driver since it's never been done before and there might be some issue not being discover in the testing process.

Theoretically the Utopia should be more efficient than the Elear. Not only is the mobile assembly (dome + coil) lighter but the magnet force is stronger as well with 6 separate magnets in the Utopia and 1 circular magnet in the Elear. Picture of the back of the Elear driver...

The Beyerdynamic DT1990 PRO seems to receive raving review as an open-back headphones with neutral sound, lots of people consider it to be better than the Elear, but it has kind of alightly elevated treble.

A warm and versatile open-back headphone, sounds like the Focal Elear. I don't have personal experience with it, but I've heard many reviewers stating that the sound is extreme dynamic, impactful and punchy. It has a dip in 7k and some people find it sub-par with female vocal but others aren't...
