Reply to review by 'Mikeybear' on item '1MORE Quad Driver In-Ear Headphones (Earphones/Earbuds) with Apple iOS and Android Compatible Microphone and Remote (Black)'
I'm going on day 5 of burn-in. The buds were absolutely unlistenable at first, a wall of bass-heavy muck. As of today, they still sound veiled in the mids (vocals through velvet curtain is how I would describe it; no immediacy), way rolled-off in the highs, which surprises me, given the driver...- Mikeybear

Ultimate Ears Reference Monitor Remastered Giveaway
I'm watching the videos, but after each one ends, the "continue" button doesn't activate and I see the message to watch the video to the end. I did so, sometimes twice to see what was amiss. Disabled cookie blockers, etc. Still isn't working correctly.- Mikeybear

January 30th: Arizona Head-Fi Meet Q1 2016
I missed announcement of this year's meet, and I had arrived so late at the 2015 meetup that I didn't get to listen to that much. It really whet my appetite as I'm wanting to do a high-end hi-res headphones-only rig and firmly believe in trying gear in meatspace. Reviews are helpful to an...- Mikeybear

Arizona Head-Fi Meet: January 24th 2015 - Impressions Thread
I was a head-fi meetup virgin. Many thanks to the organizers and all you head-fiers for hauling your phones and rigs. Next time I will get there much earlier so I can hear all the rigs. Had no idea there would be so many devices to listen to! I was quite impressed with everyone and your...- Mikeybear

What are your secret headphones?
Some closed-ear Koss phones at the end of my high school years, around 1974. Circa 1976 or so, I acquired a Pioneer quadraphonic receiver and related gear. Among the acquisitions was a set of Koss 4+4 (?) headphones. Two angled, full range drivers per side—one a bit forward over the ear and the...- Mikeybear

NEWS: Apple acquires Beats for $3 Billion (Update: Full interview on recode.net)
Isn't it ironic that Apple, never known for high audio quality 'phones/buds, has acquired a company that also makes less-than-optimal audio quality 'phones? I can only hope that perhaps the Beats line will come out with models geared to listeners with discerning ears. (Not that I will...- Mikeybear

NEWS: Apple acquires Beats for $3 Billion (Update: Full interview on recode.net)
I've never understood why the iPhone/iOS doesn't offer equalization like the iTunes app does. Seems like the hardware on the iPhone would be up to the task, no? When listening using iTunes I will sometimes tweak a little depending on which phones I'm using and if there is a particularly...- Mikeybear

Apple Earpods
I disliked most tips on earbuds until I tried Comply memory foam tips. While they wear out after a couple of months' use (at least in my ears), they are relatively inexpensive to change out. They come in packs of 3 pairs. They are the only earbud tips that seal really well in my ears. Sound of...- Mikeybear
