Focal Elegia - what do you think?
ELEGIA "OPEN" MOD (a warm 109Pro?) The increased clamp force using the Chinese "Audeze type" headband caused an unwanted boominess and veiled presentation. In my attempt to get my project phones (see above) a bit brighter without resorting to EQ, I bit the bullet and made my an opening in the...- peterinvan

Tidal Lossless Streaming
I am still looking for the “best” solution to use EQ to tune my Tidal hiRes tracks. So far I have tried: 1. Roon EQ on my PC: very good parametric EQ, but I just can’t justify the cost of Roon 2. HiBY Music on my Android DAP. It streams my Tidal tunes in 44.1, and the EQ works, but not as...- peterinvan

OPEN MODS? Thanks for your notes. I am trying to avoid EQ fixes as Tidal on my DAP does not have EQ functions. Hopeful we will hear from others before I perform this mod as it would be hard to close the cups if I change my mind.- peterinvan

Bowers and Wilkins PX8 Wireless Discussion
After five years my Elegia headband snapped. I repaired it for $60 USD using a Chinese "Audeze" type headband. See my posts in the Elegia thread.- peterinvan

Focal Elegia - what do you think?
ELEGIA "OPEN" MODS? My Elegias have become a project after I installed the Audeze type headband from China. I find with the tighter seal and the Dekoni Custom Stellia pads the bass is "muffled". I am considering opening the cups by adding more vents (drilling holes in the cup). Has anyone...- peterinvan

Test track: Easy Money, Ricky Lee Jones. My old ears cannot detect any difference. The "silver" cable is much better looking - peterinvan

FiiO K7/K7BT Desktop DAC&Headphone AMP Discussion | XLR Balance | Dual THX AAA | Xmos | ...
I have not heard the K11 with the CS DAC. I am partial to the AKM DACs, and I am very happy with the K7 for the headphones I use.- peterinvan

Looking for an all-in-one(or-two) DAC/Amp solution for SE and balanced headphones
The K7 has both 1/4" (with a 3.5mm adapter), and 4.4mm jacks. There is a software update that turns the RGB off. The K9 AKM has much the same specs (but includes a Linear Power Supply). It also has the RGB sample rate lights. I like that the Blue and Yellow LEDs matches the LowRes/HiRes...- peterinvan

Focal Elegia - what do you think?
ELEGIA TO GRADO/AUDEZE TYPE HEADBAND REPLACEMENT I have a large head, but the smallest setting on the rods still left a gap. I added a cushion made from an old mouse pad (using double sided tape). This improves both the fit and the comfort. This was a fun project.- peterinvan

I am enjoying my FiiO K7 out of Win11 > Tidal. Very good value for money. Drives my Meze and Audeze phones with authority! Worth researching.- peterinvan

Cheap Beginner DAC
My least expensive DAC/amp is the FiiO KA3 (ESS). IMHO very good value. I have a short lightning cable to my iPhone6, driving my 7Hz Timeless with a 4.4mm balanced cable from Meze. A good application for my daily walks.- peterinvan

Focal Elegia - what do you think?
ELEGIA TO GRADO HEADBAND REPLACEMENT "Grado" Mod = 413gm. Stock weight is 430gm. I am feeling that the better fit has improved the overall tone. I have switched back to the stock pads (from the Dekoni Custom pads).- peterinvan
