Yeah it sucks. I wouldn't do it myself either. The DAP has so many quirks that for me is not economically worth it For whatever reason i thought you had the mk2. Since your unit is out of warranty you can always try a repair center next to you and ask for a quote. Remember that the mk2 also has...

It sounds like an hardware problem. Send an email to hiby directly, maybe they know some troubleshooting steps we don't know. I recommend the same to you. Contact hiby and inform us on the outcome. I'm curious to know if there's a fix other than sending the unit back.

Let it charge for a while. Maybe the battery icon was showing a wrong value.

Have you tried charging it? The unit can sometimes discharge itself.

HiBy R3 II--new and improved: physical volume knob, 4.4mm balanced out, increased power

You can open it and browse the file system but the things you want to change are on compiled binaries. The only thing I saw that could be changed is the theme. Anyway, I don't think that changing stuff and trying the modified firmware would work unless tou know what you are doing. The checksums...

Saw this on your car's manual : The recommended capacity of the USB memory is 16 GB or less. USB devices formatted to FAT32 are supported (USB devices formatted to other formats such as NTFS are not supported).

There's no special setting. When you connect it to a charger it will only charge if I recall correctly. When it detects a connection, you have the option to use it as a DAC or storage. Just make sure that the USB mode is not in "Audio" but in "Storage". I'm guessing you already tried it. Make...

HiBy R3 II--new and improved: physical volume knob, 4.4mm balanced out, increased power

I don't think it stores thumbnails. In the album view it always takes ages for the thumbnails to show up like it's reading them in real time and downsizing them on the cpu. If you scroll down and wait for new albums to show and scroll up again, it will take a long time again for the covers to...

Some cars do accept external flash storage devices and the R2 II can act as one. It will basically behave as a glorified sd card reader.

HiBy R3 II--new and improved: physical volume knob, 4.4mm balanced out, increased power

I checked the SD card for the database file and didn't find it so it's most likely stored on the slow internal spi flash. The R3 pro has 128MB. It's possible that the v2 has more and it can store a bigger database. Anyway, the R3 pro file system when uncompressed is around 70MB. I doubt a...

HiBy R3 II--new and improved: physical volume knob, 4.4mm balanced out, increased power

Both devices have the same cpu and ram amount. If one can support 50k tracks, so can the other. It's a soft limit imposed by hiby to differentiate the devices. I'm going to guess that the scan speed will be the same for both. Unless they coded a new and faster way for file scanning that they...

Does anyone know how they managed to put a USB 3.1 10Gbps port in there? The SOC only supports usb 2.0 and doesn't have any high speed interface like pci-e to put an external SD card to pci-e controller.

That's strange, the Fiio M3K has less than half the power output of the r2 II, and at 32ohm (the impedance of your iem's) it only has 25mW. Are you using the EQ? It lowers the volume when you use it. Also, can you try another pair of iem's to see if it behaves the same? Most of mine run fine at...
