Violectric HPA V550 - Blue's Brother and the successor to the V281

I had to return my first amp it was so bad, the sound distortions as you turned the volume control obliterated the music but was fine as soon as you stopped turning. The replacement amp does the same thing but not as bad as my first amp so it's staying put, for now. I strongly believe Lake...

Violectric HPA V550 - Blue's Brother and the successor to the V281

I use the preamp to feed 2 monoblocks. Turn the amps up to full and use the V550 remote to adjust volume. Works well, decent quality preamp.

Violectric HPA V550 - Blue's Brother and the successor to the V281

It completely mutes all the digital inputs (coax/optical/usb) so when you're running analogue there's no chance of any kind of interference whatsoever from those and it's nice to be able to turn them off when not in use. The Majestic has a very clean sound, no noise, no LCD to create noise, just...

Violectric HPA V550 - Blue's Brother and the successor to the V281

I've got all their proprietary interconnects as i've got the amps and HPA, it's all super high quality stuff. Enjoy the experience. Let us know what you think. 👍

Violectric HPA V550 - Blue's Brother and the successor to the V281

John Cadman is a lovely guy, been dealing with him for years. Did you order it with the Enigma PSU? When i first bought my Majestic it came with the PSU1, i upgraded it couple of years ago, did an exchange. Now i run the Enigma, gives the sound more heft, bigger shoulders so to speak, but still...

Violectric HPA V550 - Blue's Brother and the successor to the V281

If you have superman super hearing maybe you can hear much better than 16-bit 44.1Khz, but i can't for sure. The USB input will do 24-bit 48Khz which IMHO is more than anyone needs or could hear anyway. I run a Cyrus CDXT-SE2 transport via coax only, the Majestic COAX inputs are rated to...

Violectric HPA V550 - Blue's Brother and the successor to the V281

If you are truly striving for that pure analogue sound very few manufacturers get right in solid state try the Graham Slee Majestic DAC. I have one and it is truly majestic. A solid state DAC with a very tubey flavour. Nobody does it like Graham Slee. I also have a Graham Slee SOLO ULDE HPA...

Violectric HPA V550 - Blue's Brother and the successor to the V281

I'm pretty sure Lake People are well aware of this issue but it's not something they will ever admit. Maybe they'll redesign the Pro volume pot differently one day. I think they are quite happy to quietly exchange units without making a song and dance about it. If you get any problems with the...

Violectric HPA V550 - Blue's Brother and the successor to the V281

I'd call myself a reasonably contented owner of a V550 Pro but it doesn't make me a pushover or immune to their foibles. If there is a genuine problem with my amp i will speak up about it. I really don't care if it affects Violectric sales, not my problem. My only problem is spending my hard...

Violectric HPA V550 - Blue's Brother and the successor to the V281

Very quiet pops and crackles are expected and accepted with all reed relay volume pots, completely reasonable and there's absolutely no argument with that. However, when these pops and crackles actually start to become louder and louder, cause distortion, and volume spikes whilst being...

Violectric HPA V550 - Blue's Brother and the successor to the V281

A couple of bad apples? Can you clarify that comment?

Violectric HPA V550 - Blue's Brother and the successor to the V281

For such a pricey amp it really shouldn't have this problem. Anything more than faint crackles or pops has got to be an issue that requires their attention. I'm not dissapointed with the amp because when not using the volume pot it sounds fabulous, but even my replacement amp has crackles and...

Violectric HPA V550 - Blue's Brother and the successor to the V281

Read below, not gone just not as bad as the first amp. I auditioned a Benchmark HPA4 with reed relay vol pot originally when first considering the Vio. It was even quieter than the Vio and i've never heard of this kind of issue with the Benchmark.

Violectric HPA V550 - Blue's Brother and the successor to the V281

My first V550 Pro had the two SE sockets, Within just a few months of use the vol pot noise during operation was unbearable so it had to gp back. The replacement amp started off whisper quiet but has gotten louder over time although it is holding steady at the moment and is nothing like as bad...
