Focal Bathys Hi-Fi Bluetooth & ANC Headphones: Early Impressions

I am using my Stock Samsung S22 Ultra with the Bathys via USB DAC right now. I did not have to make any changes. My phone is a S22 Ultra (unlocked, non carrier branded) from Samsung directly.

Focal Bathys Hi-Fi Bluetooth & ANC Headphones: Early Impressions

You may wonder why someone who does not hear the difference in AptX and USB DAC very much would shell out the $800. I am a firm believer in perception is reality when it comes to sound. Many studies have shown that if you believe your money was well spent, you will enjoy the product more. Even...

Focal Bathys Hi-Fi Bluetooth & ANC Headphones: Early Impressions

To be fair, I did not imply or mean to imply, others do not hear a difference. My ears do not really hear a "major" noticeable difference between the Bluetooth on Samsung and having it plugged into the DAC port. There was a difference, right away I had to almost max the volume when using the DAC...

Focal Bathys Hi-Fi Bluetooth & ANC Headphones: Early Impressions

This may make me a pariah here but honestly... For casual listening I do not feel any difference between the AptX (Non HD, Non Adaptive on the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra) and USB DAC mode, and sound basically the same as it does when plugged into the USB port using DAC mode. If I am not reading a...

Still working in the burn in. I hope they do not get too much brighter.

Focal Bathys Hi-Fi Bluetooth & ANC Headphones: Early Impressions

One last thought... I only want to mention this because I have read these lean towards the dark side; and though I do think they present bass more prominently than other "reference" headphones, they are still plenty bright. I always start with the song Muse Breaks Rmx by Infected Mushroom. I...

Focal Bathys Hi-Fi Bluetooth & ANC Headphones: Early Impressions

Ok, First, these headphones met all my expectations. The first song I play on new headphones is Muse Breaks Rmx by Infected Mushroom. No complaints, honestly. Secondly, for those wondering, USB DAC mode works perfect on the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. Pic, because...

Focal Bathys Hi-Fi Bluetooth & ANC Headphones: Early Impressions

This post may be moot, as apparently my Bathys are scheduled to be delivered today. However, I was just watching a review that stated the Samsung Galaxy S22 (not sure if ultra or not) cannot power the Bathys in DAC mode. Has anyone tried to power the Bathys in DAC mode from a Samsung Galaxy S22...

    Fixed our Schiit Vali 2

Long story short, we purchased a Vali 2 from someone and it was damaged in shipping. Upon messing with it more than I should have, I made the problem worse. Basically the power switch on the Vali 2 would not actually move to the on position. Upon attempting to use a little persuasion, I snapped...

That looks like a fun project, I would not have chosen that particular bottle though... Have any details on that project? -Ray

Raspberry Pi 3 / Asus Tinker Board Roon Endpoint issues. (need assistance)

Ok, I have been racking my brains for 3 days trying to get the USB audio to my Schiit DAC's to work properly with the Tinker Board. I was literally just moments away from throwing this thing through the wall when I came across a thread about Volumio. I have tried every other OS you can think...

Raspberry Pi 3 / Asus Tinker Board Roon Endpoint issues. (need assistance)

Well connecting it directly to a hardwired ethernet cable (disabling WiFi) did not fix the problem at all, if anything it sounded worse. This is a bummer.
