Looking for solid headphones in the region of £100-200
As you say, personal preference, should have been more clear. The Senns for me do things very differently. The Hd 600 did not have enough bass, but the Hd 650 was too veiled with that annoying mid bass hump. The X1 seem to fit in the middle of these two. Did not think much of the K550...- Tramtox

Looking for solid headphones in the region of £100-200
I have the X1 They are pretty much the best you are gonna get in Mid-Fi. To get better sound, you would have to spend £500 + on something like the HD700. If you want something for on the move, you are best off with IEM's because they isolate well and can sound just as good as similarly...- Tramtox

Need Help!!!! Sony MDR-1RBT or Audio Technica M50 or Sennheiser Momentum or V-Moda M-100
The Sony's are mid oriented and personally did not like the sound as it was quite boring for me personally. The Audio Technica are in a lower league altogether when compared to these headphones. Sennheiser Momentum are good for sitting back and relaxing. They could also be described as...- Tramtox

Over ear headphone reccomendations?
Well, I presume if you want headphones for travelling, the M-80's aren't going to cut it when it comes to isolation, if that is what is important to you of course, but I sure as hell find it VERY important, because when you are sitting on the bus/train and the noise interferes with your music it...- Tramtox

Westone W40 (yes, its a bit different)
I see you are very positive about the W40. I personally have the UM Pro 30, and I do like them, but I was wondering how much an improvement the W40's would be. I mainly listen to EMD, Rock and Ambient but not limited to these. The Pro 30 has grown on me, especially with the highs eq'd a little...- Tramtox

New to high end IEM's, and a little disappointed
Lack of ability to purchase most of the suggestions here in UK with simple returns and reasonable prices. Sure, I could buy every single one mentioned here, but most would be from the US with ridiculous shipping costs and great difficulty to return them if I am not happy.- Tramtox

New to high end IEM's, and a little disappointed
A very well said assessment! One of the reasons as to why I was forced to go down the route of the Westones and make that transition is simply because of their availability. I did not want to order other suggested IEM's that I found people raving about from the US eBay and other US websites...- Tramtox

New to high end IEM's, and a little disappointed
Thanks for the advice. Will take a loo at the IM70's. As you say, the high-end Westones/Shures etc are not BAD sounding and they actually do sound pretty good. It's just that for £300, I could buy TWO X1's, or THREE Beyer DT770's. I guess there is no value for money when it comes to...- Tramtox

New to high end IEM's, and a little disappointed
Diminishing returns cannot apply more to audio than it does. Sure, stepping from $50 to $300 will yield extremely large changes in quality, but a leap from $500 to $1000 may lead to a tiny change in quality. It's just the matter of finding the best value products. On another note, I think...- Tramtox

New to high end IEM's, and a little disappointed
That is most likely true to be fair. I mean, I have used IEM's before, but only cheap stuff like the CX300 and some crappy Sony for £25.- Tramtox

New to high end IEM's, and a little disappointed
Damn that sucks. Shame really because IEM's in general are so much more portable and are less of a hassle to have around than an over ear. Not to mention isolation. But if you can't fit them properly, you might as well sell them. Maybe try a different pair?- Tramtox

Strange that. Have you recently got them? For me at first it would be a little painful, but I think over time the foam softened up and I never get pain anymore.- Tramtox

Which tips are you using? The foams seem to be really comfortable for me. I'm not a big bass head, but I do like some nice deep rumble on electronic tracks. The Westone isn't that bad in that department, just not sure if it's £300 worth, that's all.- Tramtox

Thank you so much for the suggestion to boost treble. It does actually help a lot, especially with electronic stuff like trance etc. I also see what you mean about the bass decay. I reckon I can come round to the sound of them. Just need a couple of weeks. It's just so comfortable and practical...- Tramtox

Thanks a lot for the advice. I had a feeling the FSP was a much better headphone that the Beyer. Needed to be sure though. Next purchase for sure.- Tramtox
