Looking to upgrade from integrated PC audio
One thing to keep in mind, if you have any intention of streaming or using a mic for voice coms... Make sure the unit you get also has a microphone port. Shiit makes a few units made for gaming with inputs, or you could look at the myriad offerings in the pro audio space for audio recording and...- vanhiel

New Grado's? Looking for an upgrade!
Hi all, Been a while since I've been on the forums. I have a pair of Gen1 LCD-2's and a first run Cavalli Liquid Carbon which I love thanks to the advise I got here. But now I'm looking to upgrade my old Grado SR225e's. Since headphones.com doesn't carry many Grado's and I don't believe any...- vanhiel

Good cable for DIY balanced HP cables?
Barbadread - Very nice looking cables! Zaubertuba - I just took a look into the 2549, Having the cables already attached is nice and the rated flex life is quite high as well. On the Mogami website they have a few variation with steel cable inside! Talk about reinforcement! As for...- vanhiel

Good cable for DIY balanced HP cables?
I'm more thinking of flexibility and long term durability. While not light, the LCD-2 has a big cushy headband which distributes the weight well, but I suppose less weight is less weight. Perhaps I'll make one of each and compare, mogami and neutrik connectors are fairly inexpensive and I'd...- vanhiel

Good cable for DIY balanced HP cables?
I hadn't even thought about using microphone cable, since we don't need the shield. Being a former pro audio guy, Mogami used to be my go to cable for making mic cable runs. I'd have to deal with two cables at that point but nothing a bit of shrink tubing and some cable sleeve can't fix! ...- vanhiel

Looking for Advice on a Portable Setup
I was looking at 2x 128gb cards as like you said the larger ones are crazy expensive. And that will give me a while of just adding more FLAC files before I need to start compressing things I listen to less. I'll poke my head into the rev 2 thread and see what's going on with the limit. ...- vanhiel

Custom IEMs?
This is a really good point, my ears take different size tips but the left doesn't fit right and I really do everything in my power not to take that one out since it seals so tight it can pressurize my ear if I'm not careful... And that hurts which is I'm sure not good for the eardrum. And I...- vanhiel

Looking for Advice on a Portable Setup
I'm not sure I really want to spend more than $500 - $600 on phones that are going to basically live in my backpack. And while the iPod isn't horrible, soundcheck is nowhere near as good as replaygain and I imagine newer players have better SQ. I'll have to look into the Oppo since you...- vanhiel

Looking for Advice on a Portable Setup
Hey all, I've realized it's time to upgrade my portable setup. I use it for 8-10 hours a day work and then even when not at work. DAP - I'm looking at the FiiO X5 II. Price to performance seems quite good and it has a lot of storage space. What's the point of a high end player if you...- vanhiel

Custom IEMs?
Thanks for the replies guys! Some different opins on how customs fit. And I'm thinking since I've never been a fan of IEMs or even earbuds for that matter, getting a set of customs likely isn't the way to go for me. ubs28 - I'm not sure they'll fit the RE-400, from looking at the pics...- vanhiel

Custom IEMs?
Ease of putting them in and taking them out is something that didn't even cross my mind. Since I do have to talk with people / use the phone a bit at work that is fairly important. Thanks for bringing that point up! I would actually think it would be easier to put them in / remove them...- vanhiel

Custom IEMs?
Hey all, I'm looking to upgrade my portable setup since I use it for like 8-10 hours a day and an iPod Classic with RE-400s is a pretty sorry setup when compared to my at home gear. To be honest, I've never been too happy with IEMs. I dunno if my ears are just a odd size or what but I seem...- vanhiel

Could use some Amp suggestions please!
I did a search and only seem to turn up some I think Chinese websites? No normal retailers or anything like that. I did look at it when I purchased the Forte. But with the much lower price point I didn't expect the analog i/o to be as good. And while digital would be nice, the...- vanhiel

Could use some Amp suggestions please!
Yeah, the breakout cable is a bit of PITA. So is the lack of digital i/o. But I found a website that had recordings made with a whole bunch of interfaces and well I've always been partial to the more British flavor of sound. And the HP output is actually really good even with the LCD-2 which...- vanhiel
