Turns out my USB card needed more time to burn in. I still like the coax connection but it can get fatiguing. USB is another level in SQ, especially from something like JCAT.

I am wondering whether anyone else notices that the coax and USB inputs into the Terminator sound crazy different. Coax, I get this brighter, more coherent sound that I really like especially for classical. USB, it's darker, can be bland with certain genres. I find myself very much preferring...

Has anyone been able to get the dual AES input to work with the firmware update? Particularly if you have a non-mscaler input. With my mscaler I can now get only only one channel to work up to 3xxkhz upsampling, and can’t get anything out of 7xx upscaling. Strange that only one channel is working.

My mscaler stopped working with the Terminator right after I downloaded the most recent firmware update. Hopefully somewhere down the line they will work together again.

I just received some Boomslang digital cables - unfortunately I can’t get them to work with the mscaler and Terminator. Stock monoprice works fine, as does my friend’s $300 set of cables. Just something incompatible about these.

The only way it works is using dual BNC coax cable from the mscaler into the AES input of the terminator. Search for these adapters on Amazon for the BNC cable: Neutrik NADITBNC-MX 75 Ohm BNC F To 110 Ohm XLR M Adapter

The mscaler with the Terminator was phenomenal (thanks @llamaluv and thanks to @Saleh84 for discovering its compatibility). To my knowledge this is the only dac other than Chord's which can accept the full, 1 million tap potential of the mscaler. And boy does it deliver. Classical and jazz...

After some confusion, got this working, full 1 million taps. Impressions soon, but my initial reaction - so so smooth.

Update: I blind tested myself and got 10/10 correct discerning OS from NOS. I was able to tell immediately. I prefer NOS with pop music and OS with classical / acoustic. I have a super resolving system of dac direct to amp and sra1. I still couldn’t notice a difference between the filters...

I tried pressing the mode button but didn’t notice any difference. My hearing drops off at 13khz so I might not be able to tell.
