The Stax HPs are often thr benchmark when comparing estats. So, the Stax symbalence is often perceived as wide and bright, so when compared the CRBN may be perceived as dark and small. In itself, I find the CRBN to be more neutral and distant.

I returned the Arya Organic to purchase the Calderas. I would come to the same conclusion with the HE1000SE. Great headphones, but not for me. Definitely give them a test run if not familiar with the Hifiman sound. If you are familiar, and like it than they may complement your collection.

Sounds to me, it is worth having both the Caldera and the Atrium. I want a great contrast, so may go with the AC..The CC, well, will need a listen and time to marinate prior to yet another 3k purchase.

I prefer suede myself. They just work better with my chain of electronics and cables. Since switching from the Verite Silver cable to the Forza Noir Hybrid it allows me to return to the stock lambskin if in the mood, but still prefer the suede.

I am an owner of the Chord MDave. I need to go suede when I listen directly from the Dave. Although, when I use the Dave primarily as a DAC to my tube amp than I can go either suede or stock.
