the susvara is a fantastic sounding headphone imo but its amplification requirements made me leery. i really didn't want to go down that particular rabbit hole.

i'm not getting the impression that you understand at all. you don't know what the actual failure rate is for either headphone model that you're opining about. i'd call that uninformed. there's no need to correct you when all you are doing is asserting a belief based on 'a buzz'.

this topic has been discussed ad nauseum in the focal utopia general discussion thread over the years. every company, no matter how large, is not immune from making defective products. it is the overall percentage of defective products that matters. while they are unfortunate for utopia owners...

regardless of how you define 'soundstage', both the hd800 and hd800s had noticeably larger presentations than the utopia to my ears when i compared them

no, it is not. it is his opinion based on his perception and preference, which is subjective. he has never attempted to provide objective evidence to support his subjective findings in his reviews as far as i am aware. whether tungsten owners agree with him or not is ultimately irrelevant...
