It could be that 465 somehow doesn’t have good synergy with dynamic drivers but works very well with planars. A couple of headfiers reported that 465 doesn’t go well with Valkyria, which is not a planar headphone. WA23 makes more sense in this case.

When you mentioned wm1a in your earlier post, I thought you were referring to the Sony Walkman WM1A. But it’s clear from the bolded words above that what you meant was the VM1a amp 👍🏼

I did try to close 2 and 3 of the holes but like you, I didn’t like the sound. More closed in soundstage, and it loses its airiness. Instrument separation becomes less apparent and overall tonality becomes a bit wonky. I agree that EQ should be the way to tweak the sub-bass if desired...

If you already have a preamp or a DAC with volume control, perhaps you can consider AFC-10 as an alternative. It’s a bit cheaper than the AIC.

I used to apply AutoEQ settings to my headphones, but after I tried Mitch convolution filters, they’re in a different league. Much much better sounding than AutoEQ PEQ to my ears.

Couldn’t agree more. As a big fan and early adopter of both SR-1a and CA-1a, I know what I’m expecting from Immanis and there’s no reason for me to curb my expectations.

I can't seem to find them. Perhaps a picture would help. Edit: found them. Mine has 5 holes. What material is used by other owners who have modded them to close off the 2 venting holes?

Very nice indeed! Look forward to your impressions. As is the case with other amps, rolling the driver tubes can be used to fine tune the sound. And with Valkryia, I found that the 50 ohm impedance works best for my tastes.

Probably driven by demand as more and more people seem to be buying the AIC-10.
