Difference Between Koss Portapro and JVC S400
Hi everyone, I have just bought these two headphones to initiate a couple people I know into the world of audio. Since they are gifts, I can't really open them and try them out, so I was wondering what the difference is between them for those of you who have heard both. Then I can figure out...- Tsujigiri

Nixie-Fi
I wonder if there are any Nixie tube enthusiasts here... It would stand to reason that at least a few people would be drawn to Nixie clocks, given the popularity of tube amps here. This is a project I've just semi-finished for a Nixie clock. I used the QTC kit from PV Electronics and installed...- Tsujigiri

Describe Your Last Fine Dining Experience
Despite the long-running joke here about eating instant ramen to fund headphones, I've heard snippets of conversations on these boards that suggest that there are some hardcore foodies here. So, for those of you who do have a great appreciation for food, please describe the last great meal...- Tsujigiri

Lighter-Fi
I'm curious to see if anyone else here collects and has an appreciation for lighters. I've built up a small but decent collection of them, with many being vintage models that are no longer produced. For an example, the Thorens single claw. This was an interesting lighter made in...- Tsujigiri

Headphone Innovation Database
Most headphone companies have some kind of a feature prominent in some of their products that is unique to the brand or relegated to just a few brands. These features are interesting from a headphone geek's perspective, and help each company build a niche for themselves and distinguish their...- Tsujigiri

Sunglass-Fi, The Optics Info Thread
Ok, so I searched through the forums and found a couple short-lived attempts at establishing a sunglass-fi here. What I want to do is start something different. This thread will be more about the accumulation of information on sunglasses, rather than a list of what people have with no...- Tsujigiri

Health Risks of CNT Headphones?
I'm wondering if anyone might have some insight into this issue. I've been seeing more headphones with carbon nanotube diaphragms popping up lately. However, I know that prolonged exposure to CNT's can be quite dangerous, since the thin structures can pierce right through cells and cause various...- Tsujigiri

Ultrasone Pro 900 vs. Beyerdynamic DT770 (80 Ohm) *Updated Review
A few people have asked me to post a comparison between these two headphones once I got the Pro 900's, so here goes. Keep in mind, I just got the Pro 900's delivered not even an hour ago, so these are only initial impressions and the heaphones have not had a chance to burn in. I'll post updated...- Tsujigiri

Neutrality?
Why is it that when a pair of headphones has a slight treble emphasis it's still called neutral, but when it has a slight mids or bass emphasis, it's always labelled as colored? Wouldn't all three scenarios represent headphones that are equally far from being neutral? Does neutral mean something...- Tsujigiri

Most detailed Mid to Hi-Fi headphones?
I know that detail isn't the end-all for a headphone, but most likely because of that there seems to be a dearth of information on the comparative levels of detail between some of the nicer headphones. For an example, the HE-400 and HE-500 have both been praised for detail in a mid-fi headphone...- Tsujigiri

Upgrade from the SA6?
Hi everyone, I'm looking ahead to upgrade my Sleek Audio SA6's and I'm wondering what options are out there. I've looked around, and there doesn't seem to be a perfect option, unless I'm missing something. It has to fit well (My SA6's are small so they fit perfectly with the smallest tips, but...- Tsujigiri

Bass Ports Necessary
Hi, I just got my SA6's, and have somehow already lost the bass + port for one of them. I can't tell that much of a difference, though, between the sound with the bass + port and the sound with no ports in at all. Is there any reason why I should use the bass ports? I don't really want to get...- Tsujigiri

Sleek Audio SA6, Is there anything better?
I've been looking around on the forums for an upgrade, and was originally thinking of getting the Allessandro MS-1's. Now, though, the Sleek Audio's look really nice, and I've seen them for $150 on some sites. All the reviews I've seen of them are positive, but then there are also people who...- Tsujigiri

Looking for beginner audiophile headphones....
Hello, I'm by no means an audiophile, but I'm starting to get into better sound, and am now looking for an entry-level set of headphones that have the kind of sound true audiophiles appreciate. With some time, maybe I'll be able to tell the difference. The last time I posted here, I was...- Tsujigiri

Nuforce NE-7M? Is there a bettter option?
Hi, I'm looking for some IEM's at about $50. I am currently using Creative EP-630's, so I thought that the Nuforce would be a good option since people say that it has a bass boost. However, I'm using a Creative Zen Micro, which it seems is not compatable with the NE-7M. Also, I've heard that the...- Tsujigiri
