Anyone know old radios?
Hi, all. I've been thinking about buying these 10 radios for sale locally in my area: http://home.comcast.net/~dtekt/radio/Craigslist.htm for $60. I don't know too terribly much about old radios... is this a bad deal? My end goal is simply for one of them to work so I can listen to NPR. I...- axle

KZLA--anyone else upset?
I CAN'T BELIEVE IT. Yesterday at 10:20AM KZLA, LA's country station for 26 years (and LA's ONLY country station for a number of them) went to adult contemporary. Now I live in Ventura Country, so I still get KHAY, but for folks in LA County, there is now no country station period. I used...- axle

Portable FM Radio that actually works?
Hi, all. The FM on my iAudio U2 is crummy, and the Philips/Nike ACT100 FM is just horrid. I pick up more stations holding a clothes hanger to my head. Anyone have a good portable radio (mostly to use out running/in the gym)? I like digital, so when one station goes to commercial I can...- axle

SA1K or V6?
Hi, all. Title pretty much says it all. At one point I owned a pair of SA5Ks, which I found to be perfection. I enjoy a very forward, engaging sound stage, with (if any bias at all), a proclivity toward bass. They're both in my price range, and neither will be amped (at all! Ever!). Mostly...- axle

Best replacement for KSC35?
Hi, all. Well, I've finally broken my KSC35s. Since I know Koss will replace them with an "upgrade"--the cheaper and less good KSC75s, I think?--I'm looking for a replacement. And I'm thinking IEM? Here's the thing: I'm not going to pay big bucks for something I've never tried. Are there...- axle

Nobel laureates? English grads? Readers? I need your advice (please)!
Hi folks, I'm sutdying to be a Civil Engineer and as such have an excellent background in math and science. What I don't have is what I always considered to be a "college education": reading those books that everyone should read. What I'm really looking for is a list of books everyone...- axle

60GB--should I wait? (darn you, X5!)
Hi, all. Anyone got the 411 (wait, did I just say 411?) on any new 60GB DAPs coming to market? I'm considering the iPod Photo 60GB (Golly, the $!), or more likely the Zen Xtra (aka "fatso"). IS this X5 coming? Thanks! Alex- axle

Got a ticket in OH today (insurance? help!)
Hi, all. Well I did a very dumb thing today, and my bad luck really kicked me good for it. I KNOW you don't speed in Ohio, I know it I know it I KNOW IT! I had cruise control on for about 200 miles, until I just kept being cut off by the tow truck which I got a bit ragey at and blew off...- axle

DSLR? I need a new camera
Hi, guys Well, I think it may be time to retire my Canon A40. It's been a good camera, 9000 pictures strong, but it's a little on the old side now. The thing is, I'm in need of advice. I like to take pictures, and will be going to all sorts of neat places in the near future. Alas, though...- axle

SA5K to SA1K: I'm downgrading, advice? ~$100
Hello, all. Well, I've got the Sony SA5000. They're amazing. Unparalled quality, with just excellent sonics--exactly what I'm looking for (forward, clear, engaging, comfortable, light, precise base). However, I really don't have the $350 to spend on these. So, I'm looking at the $100...- axle

"My Preogative" --Britney (Noo! :D)
Well I bought the disc. She can't sing, the words don't mean anything, but I still love it, alright? I was dancing around listening to it last night when my significant other walked in and took a picture Anyone else like Britney Spears? I mean, it's outrageous, but real appreciation only... -
Calling all open phone users: help!
I feel deaf. I've been listening to my HD600s again, my first pair of open phones. I don't get what's going on--I've always used a pair of AT closed (amazing isolation), and now I'll listen for a good hour on my new $200 Senns, take them off, and feel... deaf. Which means I've been listening...- axle

The Crystal Method's Community Service II--thoughts?
Having always been a fan of the duo from CA, it would be hard to say I'm unbiased. But this is fantastic stuff. As with CSI (ha), it's exceedingly well mixed for a rather euphoric gapless playback, but that's about all this album shares with the first mix (which I thought was a little... -

So I've got $100 (help me spend it!)
Hello, all. I've liberated $100 from my savings account for a new sound card. Right now I use Soundstorm, so there's very little that wouldn't be an upgrade. There was a misunderstanding between my SB and Pioneer... that burning electronics smell was involved... you get the point. I do...- axle

Audio Technica ATH-D40fs: The unbeknownst ($50!) giant killers
Hello, all. For about a year now, I've had a pair of Audio Technica ATH-D40fs. I got them on a recommendation from my brother who has had his for about two years. Until last week, I'd never heard anything else. I never thought they sounded extraordinary, but I always found them to be more...- axle

Hmmm... yep, I need some help please
Hi, all. Today I got my iAudio U2--fantastic device. However, I'm fond of my Audio Technica ATH-D40fs, which have the larger (1/4"?) jack, as well as a 6' cord. I'd like to cut that down to maybe 2 1/2' cord, and have the mini jack (1/8"?). For the word impaired like myself: I...- axle

Canalphones--which for $100?
Hi, all. To be used with this lovely device: http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTE...pa_flashMemory Like to keep it under $100, hopefully used. Right now I use a closed can, but am hoping I can move to strictly canal phones? Good idea? For both out-on-the-town and at home, serious...- axle

1GB Flash players: advice, please
Hello, all. I've considered the following: iAudio U2 ($170), Samsung YP-T7Z ($170), and the YP MT6Z ($140). Sound quality is a consideration. I've pretty much ruled out the T7Z (the one with the color screen) on account of battery life. Yes, it's cool and small, but I'd rather just have...- axle
