    Is GruvGlide acidic???

So I just took a look at my old can of GruvGlide, and I see that some of the metal surrounding the spray nozel has, oh I don't know to say, burned off or something? Actually, on second thought, it looks a bit like rust. I can only guess that it's from the residue from the spray - what say you guys?

    Pioneer HDJ-1000 Review

Just got my Pioneer HDJ-1000 in a couple of days ago, so please allow me to write down some of my impressions... My previous pair of headphones was the Sony MDR-V6 (a.k.a. Sony 7506... do NOT mistaken it for the MDR-V600, as the V600 is CRAP!), a tough headphone to beat, for sure, but I lost...

Do I dare? Sony MDR-V700 vs. Sony MDR-V6...

After listening to both headphones in two different environments, (DJing and home-listening) I've come to the conclusion that the V700 is a much better set of headphones for DJing while the V6 is much (and I mean MUCH) better for home listening. I've had the MDR-V6 for quite a long time...

    What's best for cleaning vinyl?

I have a bunch of records, and I want to preserve them for as long as I can. I found Needledoctor and browsed through a bunch of its record cleaners. I know I cannot afford those machine cleaners, so for now I'm looking at the brush/solution offerings. The three I'm considering are the...

    The Doves

Anybody know the Doves? Not The Doves, but Doves. I just saw them live tonight at The Mayan theater in Los Angeles. Their live show was really really good. I just got their new album, The Last Broadcast, today as well. I haven't listened to all of it; I plan on doing so tomorrow...

A question for all you Seattle folks...

What is the area around the 5050 building, which is located in 5050 1st Avenue South, like? Is it safe? Dangerous? And is there a lot of public transportation available during after-midnight hours in the area?

A little rant on the state of electronic music in America...

It seems like whenever I suggest good dance music to some people, they have an immediate sense of distaste in their body, and will flatly refuse to try out my suggestions. A couple of reasons why: 1. They think that people who like electronic music = ravers = druggies. 2. They also seem...

Anyone read the article about the suckiness of pop music in the latest Newsweek?

I just got this week's Newsweek today, and there was this really great article on pop music. You guys should really check it out... Here's one paragraph from the article: Quote: ...And 2001 saw some other surprise breakthroughs and cult successes: the neosoul singer Angie Stone, the...

    Will sweat destroy my HP-1?

I've got a pair of Grado HP-1s about a week ago from Vka (thanks Vka!)... I can't help but dance when I listen to bumpin' music on these headphones! Unfortunately, dancing = sweating. Yes, I know, it's nasty. Will sweating destroy my HP-1? If so, I guess I'll have to revert to using my...

Best way to clean leather pads on Sony CD3000?

I'm sending these cans off to a buyer, and I'd like to send them in the best condition as possible. What's the best way to clean the leather pads on the Sony CD3K? Are there things I should stay away from that can possibly destroy the leather? Any input is appreciated...

    Grado RS-1 - Headache-inducing?

I do not mean to bash the Grado RS-1s in any way... I think they are an awesome pair of headphones, and I'd like to listen to music through them all day. The only problem is that I get headaches when listening to the Grado RS-1s. Oddly enough, the Sony CD3000 does not give me headaches...

Audiophiles terms that irk your liver?

There are many terms and phrases used in reviews for audiophile-equipment that are used and beaten to death. Let me provide you with a couple of phrases that really tick me off... "The bass is very tight and deep..." Come on now... Is that all you can say about the bass? "It is...

Has anyone else found the Sony CD3000 as overly bright?

When I first had the Sony CD3000 in the beginning of September I loved it - I never noticed any brightness from the headphones (I had the Sennheiser HD-580 previous to the CD3000). But today I found it way too bright. I went through a lot of hard rock albums and contemporary studio-recorded...

Should I get the MG Head to complement my Sony CD3000?

A few questions... I have a pair of CD3000 headphones on the Headroom Home amplifier (the old version) connected to my dad's system. I have been thinking about getting an MG Head during the past week but I'm not sure yet. I find the treble on the CD3000 just a tad bit bright at...

Does the Sony D-E777 have any correlation to the older D777?

Take a look: http://www.walkman.sony.co.jp/prod/cd/e777.html Looks more contemporary but still similar to the old D777. Do you think this cd player is an "updated" version of the D777 (same sound but newer look) or do you think it's an entirely different player? You guys should also take...

How do I hook up my headphone amp to my dad's audio system?

Hey guys, I'm not much of an audiophile or anything so you'll have to bear with me for a bit here... Currently I have a Nakamichi OMS-7AII that is solely connected to a Headroom Home amplifier. So that's it; the CD player and the amp and the headphones. It has great sound and all, but I...

Do you guys hear a ringing noise with the Sony MDR-CD3000?

I just received these headphones today and I think they sound great. But I've noticed one problem, however... It seems that the headphones give off a high pitched ringing noise AFTER I play sounds on the cans. It is the same type of ringing noise you get in your ear after you listen to...
