The Beyerdynamic DT880 Discussion thread
Don't know if anyone will respond to you, but I've had a 600Ω'er since '81, and it's a fabulous can. I can also tell you that the yoke/headband stuff is all pretty fragile compared to many other cans' structure. The one in this picture looks super - in case you just threw a nice image up to...- 6Channel

Comment by '6Channel' in item 'Douk Audio U5 mini balanced amplifier'
ATimoff, sorry I didn't see you'd commented and asked about my swap: I researched the 4580 vs 5532, and figured I could swap them directly. Nary a blip - dead quiet, and the speed & HF extension shines. I've ordered 4562's, but still trying to find out whether those 4580's are paralleled in...- 6Channel

I can't respond with a magic solution for you, but the JMA's are characterized as "warm yet detailed" - I'd stick with 'em for awhile. We don't know anything about your listening habits, eqmpt, etc. - if your post was on a new Facebook thread, you'd certainly get ~100 suggestions. This thread...- 6Channel

Emotiva BasX A2m Flex Speaker + Headphone Amp
I just got my a2m yesterday, and it does, indeed, make my HE6se's very happy! After tasking it for only an hour, or so, I'm pretty "WOW". However, I immediately ran into a lurking deal-breaker: volume control. I switch from FM to Qobuz to France Musique to my music library, and the jumps in...- 6Channel

Thanks for the tips, Dramlin & Dixter. I've only ever fiddled with ~15 selectable chips, including a V6, but my ear always seems to prefer the damned 5532, and the NJM I found on is a sweetie - it presents everything just as honest as I think it can be. I've been a Beyer/Quart man for many...- 6Channel

Wild question for y'all: I just plugged an LM4562 into the little powerhouse amp feeding my V2, and VOILA ! It sounds terrific, primarily because I don't need to EQ the 2K trough !! Unfortunately, I'm now missing key HF elements I enjoy from my standby NJM5532DD. I wonder if any on this...- 6Channel

Douk U3 Mini headphone amp - Question on power supply voltage / amp rating
I just thought I'd update my own chip-swap results to date: tried a Burson Vivid V6, LM4562NA, and a fresh NJM5532DD. Burson will be liked by many, with much body and detail; 4562 "almost" made it, but was lacking just a bit in HF & openness; for the time being, the 5532 remains in the socket...- 6Channel

HEY ! Missed your earlier post - ya, Pros ruled stateside in Seventies, for sure. Essentially weren't challenged here until the HD414 weaseled its way into our market. And the Pros were indestructible, to boot.- 6Channel

Were YOU mfg'd or released in '52, or do you have a CAN mfg'd or released in '52 ? I guess there could be a running 9-month technicality sewn in somewhere . . . .- 6Channel

oooooh, that could constitute a litany of impression, but you asked. In a nutshell, I've spent time with Beyers since the Seventies, and currently have an '81 880 600Ω'er and a now-broken-in-I-think 2021 880 600Ω'er. In a further nutshell: the 2021 is noticeably darker, will never be mistaken...- 6Channel

Reply to review by '6Channel' on item 'Douk Audio U5 mini balanced amplifier'
Well, I can shed a bit more light: After a tremendous experience with the U3, I elected to see if the U5 could light up my HE6se's. Stock 4580's with a 1A wall wart (5V! - a secret is keeping these Douks fed with no more than 5V!) resulted in "sleepy" audio, at best. So, I swapped in some...- 6Channel

LG V60 ThinQ smartphone
I have V20, V30, V40 and "had" a V50, which sounded so bad I returned it. My V20 is best sounding, but I use it exclusively as a music player. I'll come right out and probably recommend popping for a new V60, as older phones no longer get any kind of system updates and the apk market...- 6Channel

LG V20 Sound Quality
I only say that because failure of the earbud jack is one of the most common physical reasons cell phones are replaced - just down the list from busted screens & waterlogging. My V20 is a dedicated music player, so the cord that connects to my amp often stays plugged in & unstressed for weeks...- 6Channel

LG V20 Sound Quality
My only reason for the FM is that I have a few very good local classical & jazz (& techno) FM stations whose on-air SQ through ANY phone that receives terrestrial FM is vastly superior to those stations' online signal; of course, local radio surely won't matter to most (some great FM in Chicago...- 6Channel

Yup. But you'll need to "trick" it to get that indication when you just slide a 16Ω can into the jack. Just follow the tricks in this thread.- 6Channel

LG V20 Sound Quality
Android s/w versions are a confounding bag: many new apps have prerequisite of later Android iterations to even download; if your OS is old enough, like V20, Google or your carrier won't even cater to upgrades; OTOH, later OS's facilitate faster online operations AND greater security. You have some questions which suggest you may not have utilized a cell phone as a music player. I just HAPPEN to have just received a TMob V20 (918) offa ebay from an identical promotion. Thanks a ton for this ! I think I'll solve my worries from spikes & surge by introducing a switch for my cans: a switch, as I've worn out more than a handful of jacks over many years - although the one in this amp should be an easy R&R. Now to rummage about my eqmpt bin for a suitable preamp...- 6Channel

My first post (question) in this thread: Q1: I understand this amp is "always on", once it's plugged in - I plan to control it by plugging it into my power strip - will I encounter a turn-on/turn-off transient through my cans that should be avoided ?? Q2: Can I depend on that new electronic...- 6Channel

Music Apps, Tips and Tricks for the LG V30, V35, V40, V50 & V60
