What mods did you do to the ECA-80 unit? Just curious. Thanks very much for the post always been curious about these Pioneers. Not saying to do this, but very careful light application and proper buffing of shoe polish ( maybe Parade Gloss ) on that headband style often works well. I have done...

Did you ask Vesper Audio to see if they can make some for you? They do custom pads to order.

AWESOME. You have impeccable taste. Good to see some Teddy Pardo there = a PSU, PR1 Preamp, TeddyDac, and 2x MB100 Monoblocks.:) All you are missing is his HPN Headphone Amp... I did see something about the HPN being released again "coming soon" as they said on their FB page. But I have yet to...

    The Headphone Driver Pics Thread

Awesome, thanks a bunch for this post. I am guessing since they were for fancy studio use, those contacts get pressed down when you wear them and when you take them off it breaks the circuit contact and stops the music. There is another headphone that also does that but I forget what it was (...

new jvc victor studio headphone the HA-MX10-B

I really appreciate the graph ( and of course real life listening impressions ). So far I only have 2 Edifier pad sets, might need some more as you never know when things will get phased out. Pleather coatings these days sure don't seem to hold up as well as the old days. Need to use them on...

Impressions | aune AR5000 Full-Size Open Headphones with MLD Driver

After watching the video I have a better appreciation of AUNE's approach. I wasn't aware of the Hifidiy influence ( I have used that in the past for a few things using translator tools). This AR5000 has a rather timeless look to it. My first impressions were of a classy Machine Age / Art Deco...

What a long, strange trip it's been -- (Robert Hunter)

On the USB Type-C - USB Type-B cables... Oyaide (Japanese ) makes a great looking one in their well-built D+ series. Only the regular copper for now it seems ( no 102SSC yet their crazy-made replacement for OCC ) but their eye pattern is rock solid within the D+ series. It's what I would use...

    Earbuds Round-Up

Did you try to suck on the earbuds? I am not joking = often the driver diaphragms can get distorted by changes in altitude during shipping and dent up. ( voice coil is attached to the diaphragms so that can get funny also.... ) Carefully lightly sucking on them can undo those dents. It's free...

Glad to see there is still talk of Wagner, Ring Cycle and CD's here :) It's the first place I thought of! Just grabbed the remastered version of Immortal Performances Box set of their Dream Ring Cycle. = http://immortalperformances.org/documents.php?d=5 Anyone else familiar with it? Seems...

Part of the quoted section above, about the ECR-800 needs some additional clarification. The Sony engineers didn't simply guess the brown cable sounded better than a black equivalent cable. They knew it did, from direct testing and listening trials. Their thinking about why it did sound...

Fostex T50RP Incremental Mods and Measurements

^ Great to see. I like the holes punched in the damping pad. Found it to be a great fine-tuning method after you get the bulk done, depending on the damping layer.

    Earbuds Round-Up

Apples to oranges but as far as vocal presentation only, it seems these are close/equal/better to the fullsized JVC HA-MX100 series ? Wow. Will have a peek at your review, thanks for the impressions.

    Orthodynamic Roundup

You could do a sort of mini chamber of damping directly on the rears of the drivers to make a double room. Speaking about the Beyer housings of course and the low end stuff. Had decent success with a couple mods in a large housing with that method. Pretty sure I used a ring / collar of...
