That would be some funny cabling, but yes, it should work just fine. If you go this route you need to post a picture, as I'd like to see the balanced -> 4xRCA and then 2x1/4 plugs -> headphone cables.- Defiant00

If you've kept Windows 10 up to date you shouldn't need drivers, since W10 is finally USB Audio Class 2 compliant.- Defiant00

Schiit Modi and Magni comparison to Bifrost and Asgard
Playing 16-bit audio in 24-bit mode means that, from a digital perspective, you have quite a large range of digital volume control before it has any effect on SQ. A single 24-bit packet at full volume looks like this: [16 bits of data][00000000] (8 zeroes, resulting in a 24-bit piece of data)...- Defiant00

Don't forget, the Rag doesn't have a "headphone section" or "speaker section," it's all the same thing, just with different connectors.- Defiant00

Personally I found the Jot just barely better/different than the Asgard 2 when using SE on both. Main thing I would mention for your overall query is that, at least with my Asgard 2 and the Jot that I tried, I was able to go much quieter without channel imbalance on the Asgard 2. If I had kept...- Defiant00

Then...just use one Vidar? Also, you can run mono into a 4-ohm load, but if you try and blow out your windows you might trip the protection first (which just means you'll have to switch it off and on again).- Defiant00

Warranty or not, it's still worth it to contact Schiit. They should be able to give you both suggestions and what your repair options are.- Defiant00

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up
Because there are apparently no good XLR connectors that also contain a switch for when something is plugged in, but it's an easy/common thing for SE because of how the plug works. I know Jason has posted about this at some point, probably years ago.- Defiant00

Happy as a Pig in Schiit: Introducing Modi Multibit
Just use a y-splitter, there's no harm in having the Mimby output hooked up to both your speaker and headphone setups.- Defiant00

Happy as a Pig in Schiit: Introducing Modi Multibit
I prefer Schiit's multibit products, so I would recommend Mimby or Bimby. They both sound basically the same, so on sound quality alone I'd recommend Mimby. If you think you're going to keep it quite a while and might upgrade, maybe Bimby, but Mimby is definitely the better value proposition...- Defiant00

Happy as a Pig in Schiit: Introducing Modi Multibit
I suspect it's so that you don't have Windows switching sound devices on you when you turn your DAC on or off. My guess would be that they are of the opinion that if it's plugged in it should show up on your computer, regardless of whether the DAC is on or off. Entirely speculation on my part...- Defiant00

Schiit Yggdrasil Impressions thread
I cannot tell you specific numbers on Yggdrasil vs Mimby, but from my general experimentation and understanding having used a number of VSTs and dealt with trying to reduce latency, your output method and buffer size is by far the biggest contributor to latency (or the lack there of)...- Defiant00

What a long, strange trip it's been -- (Robert Hunter)
Just the DAC needs to be left on. Feeding it music 24/7 may decrease warmup time (maybe, people seem to have quite mixed opinions on this), but keeping the DAC itself on is the important bit.- Defiant00

Schiit Fire and Save Matches! Bifrost Multibit is Here.
The DAC chips take powered-on time to settle into their specs (on the order of hours/days), and measurements show that there is a real change in its output after being on for a number of hours. Will you hear the difference? Not sure, some people are more sensitive to the differences than...- Defiant00

That's basically what FLAC already is. Short of better compression algorithms or possibly adding new metadata features, there isn't really anything you could do to improve upon current lossless tech since you're already preserving the original data.- Defiant00

Schiit Modi and Magni comparison to Bifrost and Asgard
Yeah, I'd definitely go multibit and either Magni 2 or Vali 2 if you want a good compact stack. Or normal Modi 2 depending on funds, it's still very good sounding as well (the multibit offerings are pretty special though).- Defiant00

1) Yes, it is fully and properly grounded. USB is not "galvanically isolated" according to @Baldr . I believe it was because it's a term (with regards to USB) with no proper/formal universally-accepted definition, but I could be mis-remembering. 2) Gen 3 USB, as far as any of us know, is...- Defiant00

Schiit Jotunheim Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV
I believe ASIO buffer settings are a separate thing to foobar's. I know with asio4all, when in use it shows up on the system tray and you can then adjust the buffer size from there. Based off of the numbers you mentioned, it sounds like that was foobar's buffer setting, as ASIO buffers are...- Defiant00
