Hi @phantasmag0ria, I've distilled your requirements as follows: The one remaining pertinent question would be, what is your total budget for the whole system (both headphones and DAC/amp)?- warrenpchi

Since we're in the mood to talk about music - and inspired by @bigbeans recent acquisition of a massively ginormous von Karajan set - what are your Best Compilations for Artist [Re]Discovery?- warrenpchi

Best Compilations for Artist [Re]Discovery?
For your favorite artists, which compilation or greatest hits album would you recommend as the perfect way for new fans to discover them, or for long-time fans to re-discover them? Here's one to start: The Smiths - Complete For anybody that wants to know/remember what the Marr/Morrissey...- warrenpchi

I'm not Korean, but I once listened to this endlessly, so that I could learn how to sing it impeccably, and yes it was to impress a girl: I wish I could say something noble about the appreciation of music and all that, but honestly, sometimes it's just a biological imperative at work.- warrenpchi

IMO, this hobby should be all about fun and happiness. So as long as you're having fun and you're happy, really, not much else should matter.- warrenpchi

Frequency response at the ear drum
It's not about taking sides in a debate, it's about the debate in general being off-topic for the Storm thread.- warrenpchi

Frequency response at the ear drum
Yes, that's my stance as well. A worthy discussion to be had for sure, but perhaps one best had in its own thread so as not to derail this one further.- warrenpchi

Any solution for stiffened cables?
Hmm... I wish I had an idea for you. :frowning2: The closest things I have to a Liquid Links Venom are the Code 23, Code 24C and RN6 cable. All three of those have withstood the test of time well, so I haven't run into this issue yet. -
Subtonic STORM: Impressions and Discussion
For me personally, I'm not terribly enamored with either design, so apathy in equal parts here. But I did find the entire faceplate debate funny as all heck.- warrenpchi

Subtonic STORM: Impressions and Discussion
It's not bad in isolation, but the launch edition established expectations, which I think is a large part of the disconnect for many.- warrenpchi

Subtonic STORM: Impressions and Discussion
It's an intriguing and worthy discussion to be sure, but I am considering moving all of it to it's own thread somewhere, so that we stop derailing this one. I have to imagine there are some, perhaps many, followers of this thread who'd like to return to the good old days of Storm-centric...- warrenpchi

Effect Audio cables thread
100% agreed. And though I've not tried every cable at that price point, I'd say that the Eros S could very well be the best of any offering in the $300 range period. You don't want to do that... it's soooo good, cleanest sounding cable I've heard yet.- warrenpchi

Any solution for stiffened cables?
Funny you should ask that, as @Aeonyx is dealing with a similar issue with his Eros S. He was thinking of using a heat gun, but I think that's too risky a move for any cable of considerable value. That said... I don't know if all manufacturers offer such a service, but I know that Eletech... -

Hmm, you didn't like Noble's Spartacus? Granted, it's not DD, but I felt that the dual BCDs did a pretty good job with the low end. In fact, I remember thinking to myself Joop might like this one! I remember trying to convince @eruilluvitar that the LCD-5 (which we both have) has...- warrenpchi
