The Fiio X5 Thread
Anybody getting random player freezes at the end of tracks? Happens on mine every 5-10 tracks. The only way I can unfreeze it is by shutting it down or unplugging the headphones. Firmware 1.23 and mostly 320 mp3.- bdub77

Philips Fidelio L2
In that case, as much as I love the L2, for music and gaming I would pick the X1. Simply for the bigger soundstage and extended sub-bass, which always makes for a more immersive viewing experience. Only my opinion though..............- bdub77

Philips Fidelio L2
To me, they're different cans - they sound different, feel different, use different sized drivers and materials, are suited for different purposes, etc. If portability is a concern, definitely get the L2's. If not, I have a really hard time recommending one over the other. I have both and I'm...- bdub77

Philips Fidelio L2
The isolation is surprisingly good considering they're a semi-open can. They put a "fine, woven fabric in the acoustic grille" (Philips marketing speak from the manual), which seems to help with the isolation. I just measured the inside of the ear cups for you, they're approximately 63mm X...- bdub77

Philips Fidelio L2
I've had both the X1 and L2 for about a week. Here are my 2 cents regarding the comparison. The X1's produce lower sub-bass and more bass overall. They also have slightly more sparkly highs (not forward, just more sparkle, this is hard to explain). The L2's don't have as much bass and the...- bdub77

The WS99/WS77 PG 57..
LOL. I'm definitely not one to be carrying the torch - more of a lurker than anything. I just don't see how this thread gets minimal attention when threads like the Pro 900 and many other are in the multi-hundreds of pages. These things are fantastic for the cost (in my opinion). I've had a...- bdub77

The WS99/WS77 PG 57..
Hey guys, I picked up my pair of 99's a few weeks ago, and I love them! Coming from the Pro 900's, I really appreciate the forward mids and non-sibilant highs of the 99's. What I don't understand is how these headphones and this thread didn't pick up more steam. To me, the sound, price, form...- bdub77

"Nokia N8" and "feeding a (portable) DAC with USB on-the-go"
Finding a micro-to-mini USB OTG cable with dual 90 bends would be awesome! Haven't found or seen such a thing though. I use the stock Nokia OTG cable with a very short mini cable to my E7. A bit of a tradeoff for sound quality for sure, and kind of a hassle, but it's still portable for the...- bdub77

"Nokia N8" and "feeding a (portable) DAC with USB on-the-go"
Oh, and as for the uHA4, I haven't tried it, but I will say this - find out if it tries to install drivers. If it does, it almost definitely won't work with the N8. I use the Fiio E7 and tried to update to the E17 but it wouldn't work because the 17 installs drivers whereas the 7 does not.- bdub77

"Nokia N8" and "feeding a (portable) DAC with USB on-the-go"
Compared to the ITouch, I would buy the N8 in a heartbeat for 4 reasons: 1. USB OTG 2. Built-in offline GPS with free maps over wifi 3. SD card support 4. Camera quality The build quality is outstanding as well, and the onboard DAC/amp is a little better IMO as well. About the...- bdub77

Which company makes the best car speakers?
Quote: Lol, I definitely don't drive a luxury car. It's a 2005 Subaru Legacy GT with 320 wHP. It is all about passions and priorities - 2 of mine are audio and cars, why not combine them?- bdub77

Which company makes the best car speakers?
^^ It all depends on your priorities. I commute for 2 hours a day to and from work, and once at work I have the luxury of listening to headphones as I work. At home I'm typically very busy with my 2 kids (newborn and toddler) and have very little time to listen to music. So for me, I have...- bdub77

Looking for Tablet with Digital Out
I run usb digital out from my Nokia N8 into a Fiio D5, then digital coax into my Bit1. Works like a charm and no need for any voltage conversions like you would need with the Pure unit. As a bonus, the N8 has a built-in gps sensor with free map updates and downloads.- bdub77

Yeah, I had the same experience with the D-Zero. So far, I've only had success with the Fiio D5 and E7 (both driverless)- bdub77

Are you using the D5 in your car by any chance? I use the coax output from the D5 in my car system to feed an Audison Bit1 from the N8. Works like a charm.- bdub77

"Nokia N8" and "feeding a (portable) DAC with USB on-the-go"
For anyone wondering, the N8 will NOT work with the Fiio E17 via USB OTG. At least, mine won't, and I've had success with other DAC/Amps.- bdub77

FiiO E17 "ALPEN" - First Impression + Final Thought
The N8, among other Nokia products, has gained fame among audiophiles for supporting digital audio out via USB, something Android products are not capable of (yet). I was hoping that the E17 would be supported because the N8 had no problem with previous Fiio products (the E7 and D5).- bdub77

FiiO E17 "ALPEN" - First Impression + Final Thought
Hey guys, first post here. Heads up for Nokia owners - I just received my E17 and unfortunately it won't work with the N8 via USB OTG. I'm quite disappointed since this was the main reason I bought it. Now I just need to decide if I like its sound better than my E10 and E11 or it may be up...- bdub77
