I was recommended the Bellari so I waited to find one on eBay and saved 50% of new. I was told it performed as well as preamps in the $700 range.

Got some yh-1 for just under $100 on eBay about a month ago. They are almost perfect condition and no broken plastic on the headband. I couldn't pass them by as they aren't the same ones that have been recirculated on there for a long time with broken up headbands. After selling my yh100 for...

Would love to hear Cocteau Twins, Mazzy Star, Pink Mountaintops or the Entrance Band on the HE1000. But my HE-5LE can handle the job too

Soundesign with BSR turntable. Purchased for 8 bucks at a good will. the turntable was seazed, but I fixed it. The needle is fine and I use it to play old records I wouldn't play on my nicer equipment. Also 8 track player with cassette adaptor. Sound fills the room but is very mellow and more of...

PSB Alpha Mini speakers sound great for the size and NHT speaker as a center channel hooked up to a Sony surround amp for TV and ipod listening. It's plenty loud but not a lot of bass. Rectilinear mini III speakers (3ohm)hooked up to Topping amp tp21 with yamaha c-6 pre amp and project...

In the photo of the guy with all the records, they appear to be laying flat. I saw this article on Facebook somewhere before and was curious, as I've heard before, that it may be bad for them to lay flat. I like thrift store shopping and usually won't buy records that are flat and stacked...

Update: the c-6 performs excellent with the hifiman he-5le. I can't imagine turning it up louder than 2/3 volume with them.

I have he5le and really like them. Have not heard the others you mention. Have the sennheiser hd600 and they're very bland after having the 5le. Had the yamaha yh100, sound is great but they're less than comfortable. Glad I got my 5le. Only paid $420 US with shipping for them. They looked unused...

Today I found a Yamaha c-6 preamp at a thrift store for 25. Thought about it for quite awhile because I wasn't finding much info on the internet except for 2 of them on eBay for $200 and $350. So I bought it with the plan of using its phono preamp mostly. Well got it home and set up, WOW! The...

Project essential II in stock configuration. Not a bad table for 300. Have a bellari tube phono preamp with the headphone out coming in the mail. Then today found a Yamaha c-6 (pictured)at a thrift store for $25-. I got it hooked up and dialed in. It has two very nice sounding phono inputs and...

    Testing audiophile claims and myths

I give no instance to how much loss or gain for a reason. I just stated my opinion. If anything, stated differently, is that above average cables will not bring down the quality as much as average cables. Your second paragraph I agree for the most part. In the case of extreme myth busting...

    Testing audiophile claims and myths

i don't stream or download with sq in mind, and very rarely for checking out new artists. I don't Bluetooth at all. I like cables, good or average, better than wireless. Can I prove wireless has more distortion in signal than wired, not really. But any music I stream is 320k or worse, and music...

    Testing audiophile claims and myths

Cable believers have extra money. But they usually put more into components than the Bosers. Bose sells the whole set up and askes the consumer not to think and take their word for it. Cable buyers may just be thinking too much. But there is some science behind both, and some faith. There's...

    Testing audiophile claims and myths

I don't see Any forcing false ideas. From my perspective I agree with him because it seems like he has some I the same basic knowledge that I have , but is much more knowledgable. I say basic knowledge, because I actually consider most of his opinion to be undoubtably true basic knowledge. Some...

    Testing audiophile claims and myths

I believe time tells, to some extent. When companies use cheap parts, I notice because I keep my stuff. A well made product gets better with time. As for testing new technology, I support it. But when companies try to fool people with look-alike parts and etc, that is where we should focus.

    Testing audiophile claims and myths

If your product uses parts that sound perfect at purchase, then break or change over time, then whatever I guess. Or if you string along a bunch of junk to counteract junk and perfect sound comes out, done? There's a reason people like older products and technologies, because they've stood the...
