Official Sony WF-1000XM3 Thread - Noise Cancelling True Wireless Earphones
EQ on Sony headphones pretty drastically change the sound of the earphone. Thats the beauty of those headphones if you're willing to spend a little time to customize the sound. I've been extremely happy with the following EQ: 400: +1 1k: +1 2.5k: +2 6.3k: 0 15.6k: +1 Clearbass: +2- monsieurguzel

Agreed. A good sealed IEM probably lets less sound in that a vented ANC earbud. The one thing you are giving up with traditional IEMs though is transparency mode which comes in very handy.- monsieurguzel

I would say that these are very much of a sidestep from the Sony earbuds. The airpods are a lot more seamless with iphones, are more compact, have better mics, are more comfortable, and have slightly better transparency mode than Sony earbuds. They both have similar battery life and comparable...- monsieurguzel

I agree that the WF-1000xm3 with ANC on does have flabby bass, but with ANC off the earbuds sound pretty darn great, especially with some slight EQ tweaks in the Sony app. I typically rarely use ANC while listening to music since with the compy tips, very little noise makes it in while playing...- monsieurguzel

I just got my pair earlier today and so far i haven't been very impressed from sound quality or ANC perspective. I have a pair of Sony WF-1000xm3 with comply tips and they blow the airpods pro out of the water in both departments. In my opinion, if you've trieds airpods, expect better fit...- monsieurguzel

That looks amazing! I can't wait to receive my silver BHSE in a few weeks. Speaking of which, is there any update as to when the next batch will ship? Originally Justin hinted that they would be every 2 weeks but not sure that is still the case.- monsieurguzel

I use the hifi tuning supreme fuses on my PWD and they made a nice difference in my dac before I had upgraded to Mk. II. Never installed the critical link fuses so can't comment on how good those are...probably better than the stock one though- monsieurguzel

The Schiit SACD/DSD Research Thread--Your Chance to Win a Bifrost!
1. Are you familiar with SACD? DSD? Yes 2. Do you own any SACDs? No 3. If so, what percentage of your collection is SACD vs CD or files? Files 100% 4. Is SACD/DSD decoding an important consideration when you're looking for a DAC? Potentially, if there is a distribution method...- monsieurguzel

I completely agree with this statement. I feel that rubber feet and isolation make a much bigger difference in something like a turntable where the needle needs to read the grove with as little vibration as possible. This is even more of an issue if you are listening to speakers, which will...- monsieurguzel

Hey Justin, just out of curiosity, I see that the silver BHSE units on the shelf have black anodized feet. All your previous ones used to be silver, which I personally think looks better and goes with the silver faceplate better than the black feet. If i'm correct the...- monsieurguzel

Yeah, firmware issues is kind of nuts. Way too much discrepancy between all the different versions, but I guess that's what happens when you have a dac streaming from a network. It's probably similar to how Pure Music and Amarra slightly change sound signature every time they tinker with their...- monsieurguzel

Houston, TX mini-meet
Haha :) Yes it was kind of a sudden thing that happened this past summer for family reasons but now i'm in Houston for the foreseeable future :) But it's great that there's a great community of Houston head-fiers, although not as big as the SoCal group. As for the BHSE, thats really... -
Houston, TX mini-meet
It really was a great little meet and I felt I got a lot more critical listening than most other meets I had been to...partially due to the small size of the group and great equipment on hand. Couple things I learned from this meet: 1) HD800s are still my favorite not stat headphones out... -

WA5 K1000 connector with LCD-3 and balanced cable
I suggest you try a real speaker amp over getting a WA5 LE. A properly designed speaker amp will outshine something like a WA5 which is designed primariliy as a headphone amp that happens to have enough power to drive high efficiency speakers. There's tons of wonderful used equipment out there...- monsieurguzel

Have you tried the most recent versions of eLyric? 26.10 I think works pretty damn well for me. Album artwork loads almost instantly on my iphone and the program overall is getting a lot more polished. I usually do all my tagging in another program and just have eLyric run in the...- monsieurguzel

WA5 K1000 connector with LCD-3 and balanced cable
I used to have a WA5 (fully maxed out with tubes upgrades) and it's a really bad match for orthos, particularly the HE-6. LCD-2 was too muddy on the amp. You'd be a lot better off with a much cheaper amp that is more suitable for orthos than $4000+ on a WA5. The amp is a lot better on HD800s...- monsieurguzel

Congrats on pulling it off Justin! I'm sure that sourcing and building 45 BHSE amps at the same time must have been a logistical nightmare as well as a big financial strain in terms of parts!
